Welcome & Introduction, Day 2

ETHConf · June 2026 · 3:12

ETHGlobal co-founder Kartik Talwar opens day two of ETHConf at the Javits Center, calling it the first and biggest institutional Ethereum event in America. Talwar says New York was chosen to bring the finance world together with DeFi and TradFi founders and builders working on cryptography and distributed systems. The day follows three themes: institutional adoption of stablecoins and DeFi, protocol engineering progress, and removing UX, technical and regulatory hurdles. Talwar adds that speakers will discuss work already shipped.

[applause] >> Good morning, everybody. Welcome to day two of EthConf. I'm Kartik, one of the co-founders of EthGlobal, and I am super excited to welcome all of you here for the rest of this event. We are here at the Javits Center. EthConf is the first and the biggest [clears throat] institutional Ethereum event in America. We're excited to tell you all things that are happening in the world of Ethereum and EVM. And this is an event that's being run by EthGlobal. Our goal is to help promote the Ethereum ecosystem and get the smartest people in the world building and solving the hardest problems in the space.

The reason we chose New York is because we want it to be institutionally focused and intentionally focus on getting the finance world to see what the rest of our community is doing and is up to. It's very intentional that we are here bringing together founders from DeFi and TradFi and every single builder who's doing all the latest in the world of cryptography and distributed systems to actually see how their work can be applied and made more practical. And we want to make sure that we get to do this where both parties are very readily excited to work together.

There's over 2,000 of you here from so many different companies spanning all different industries with 150 speakers that are going to be talking throughout this conference. And what I want to do is just talk about how today's going to be set up. We're going to keep the three themes still intact. We're going to see all the stuff around how different institutions are thinking about adopting and using stable coins and especially DeFi in their day-to-day flows. We're going to cover a little bit more about how protocols are evolving in the space from the point of view of engineering-wise, what's still outstanding, what's being worked on, what you get to see in the next few months to few years, and how both of those things connect together to make it easy for everybody

else to come easily on chain, which means can we make the infrastructure ready, can we simplify everything that we see as a hurdle, whether it's UX, technical, or otherwise, including regulatory, and how do we make things seamless so that the rest of the world doesn't have to worry about where the information is being stored or passed, it just works, and it works at scale. That's kind of the goal, and through all of that, the goal for this whole experience is that we get to focus on real stuff, which means that any speaker coming on stage is talking about something they've already done, not just a thing that they're thinking about or working on.

We want to promote things that are already out there. We want to also make sure that everybody gets to interact with the founders of these companies, so you'll see them walking around and stay here for the rest of the day. You get to chat with them and actually talk right to the people who help you get to a decision faster. So, that's the intention, that's the goal. This is what today looks like on the main stage. Lots of incredible founders and speakers who are going to tell you all the latest in their worlds. And with that, we're going to jump right into our very first talk of today.
