o [Music] [Applause] we're coming at you live from Denver so I mean check it out we got a Mountain View and uh I mean we are uh in the midst this is like the first day um and it feels like I me the sentiment in the air is quite optimistic um it feels like we're on the precipice of of lots of um lots of innovation and acceleration
like it it feels like uh we and I heard I heard this on a previous panel which just kind of like where where I'm I'm getting this from is we we almost hit like scale like we hit a capacity of scale and now it feels like we're all solving some some interoperability problems and this conference just feels like we're bringing everyone together you know we've all been just kind of like working in our own silos in our own Direction and I I tend to think these conferences bring people together and we're able to almost solve this fragmentation of ideas um so I'm curious specifically at Tao uh you work on the community side I do you uh you see all of these ideas that are floating around on Tao and and everyone's got a wild imagination and they're all very very
excited about building on Tao so I'm curious from your perspective like how how does your your workflow how does your daily life look like interacting with applications and essentially like taking a survey of all the applications and all the ideas that people are thinking about and making sure that there's a home for all those ideas on Tao yeah well you know I think you you put it really well is like there's this like excitement in the air there's like a lot of innovation going on so it's almost like an issue of being able to figure out how to fit everybody in how to you know put all these cool projects into like you know really interesting ways into our ecosystem I mean you have
everything from applications that are being built on Tao to people that are helping out our overall infrastructure and a lot of the time those are like Community projects so you know we've had uh community members build like a distributed PR Network just as like a side hobby you know really quick and then there's been uh you know people that build applications you know just for fun or like things that make it easier to like run a node for users and all that so you have like a pretty diverse crowd of both like companies communities and individuals that are coming together to build really really really cool stuff and I think a big part of it is finding a way to get everything to work together so for example like on
the ecosystem side of stuff you know we've and especially here at this conference you know there's a lot lot of projects that are approaching us that are like hey we've built all this really cool stuff like we want to see it on Tao you know and my job is basically to just figure out where it best fits but I feel like a lot of the time it's not even really like my doing it's really like you you you bring all these like different applications and protocols and projects together Under the Umbrella of like building on Tao and then once they're in that ecosystem everybody kind of gets together and figures out like how can we interoperate how can we build together so you'll have like different like you know decentralized identity Primitives being paired together with like more like social apps or more like
defi apps then you can have you know uh you have like nft Builders you know platforms that are just there to specialize in making nfts like both like cheap and accessible to Mint and then turning that into something that makes it a lot easier to play onchain games and stuff like that so really it's just been you know making enough space for everybody uh but it really hasn't been hard at all everybody is so excited to to build stuff there's like an excitement in the air where you're able to really you just get everybody together under that like umbrella of like building on Tao and they just run with it you know it's it's really not not not too much on my end the convergence of those ideas is is one of the things I find so cool about this industry is we have like I said gaming
Finance like the there is not another industry where these ideas and and applications are colliding and we get this really cool mix of of functionality incent and entertainment like generally it's fun Andy and I did a video recently on the Tao ecosystem we were just scrolling through the ecosystem page we saw AI we saw intense we saw games we there was so many things that it just it it gives this really unique blend to Tao itself because it's home to all of these all of these things and I think it speaks to the architecture too like Tao's been able to construct this hybrid architecture where where it uses ethereum sequencing it it is a based
rollup M but then you're also able to substitute all of these other like very novel very unique and scalable mechanisms to make like really harness ethereum to the to the most of its capabilities so I'm I'm curious from your point of view maybe you can't endorse like any particular like application that's building on tyo but what are some of the if you can mention specific applications love to hear them otherwise would love to understand what sectors are really pushing the limits like what are some of the ones that are just really exciting and and using Tao to the best of its capabilities MH that's a really good question so I think it's important to look at like what the
goal is of all these projects building you know I I think what the overall theme that I've like really noticed is accessibility so it kind of goes hand in hand with like the idea of like scaling and like the way Tao is built in such like an open and like permissionless manner where you're basically looking to make like web 3 as a whole and everything like with scaling you're making it cheaper so you know the end user regardless of where they are in the world can still you know participate they're not being priced out of things you know and then building on top of that in the name of like accessibility most of the projects in our ecosystem that have really seen a lot of traction and a lot of excitement are things that just make it a little more simple and
straightforward to utilize like Tao ethereum just web 3 in general so for example like things that are really popular is like we've had one project called Tao and so they're like uh they're similar they're a decentralized identity uh platform you know so you can have like a you know a username yeah so you can have like alex. Tao you know and so you can pair that up with other again like applications like you know dii apps or like social media apps or even gaming apps you know and you put that together and it it makes it easier to to keep track of this like profile this like identity that you have on Tao you know and going further than that you have um you know I've seen a huge huge push in like account abstraction you know so web 3 can be accessible to people that don't
really know how to use wallets that don't feel personally comfortable with handling like private Keys you know like that's it is a lot I know like we're really used to it in this community and you know we're really pretty technical people you know even if we're not like Engineers you know even just being able to get on metamask add you know a network to your chain or yeah add a network write down your seed phrase yeah all of that stuff like it gets really complicated you know and so when you're talking about onboarding the next million the next billion users you really have to start thinking now of like what do we want that to look like who do we want to be using it how we want to sort of like mimic like the web 2 experience we you know so everything's still available if you're super
technical you can you know you know get on mam mask you can you know sort of create your own wallet you can deal with things however you want you can deal you know you can transact on take go through your command line if you feel more comfortable doing that but you know we don't want to limit it to that so again a really popular like applications and and big pillars of our ecosystem have been things that make things uh you know a little more accessible you nft minting platforms you know you don't have to know how to deploy a contract you know you don't really have to understand like the different like uh nft types you know that they'll go through they'll explain everything they'll they'll walk you through the deployment process you just have to provide you know is it's going to be like a picture based nft is it
something is going to be used in a game this or that I mean even games you know it it's it's being able to try and turn it from like you know just being like a a click to sign a transaction one step of the game you know we've seen lots of like really Innovative innovative ideas where it's like utilizing different onchain aspects where it's like you know we've seen one project like zypher games utilize like ZK proofs to make the onchain gaming experience a little more fluid you know so you don't have to you know sign 30 transactions for like a game of like you know crypto Rumble you know so it's like this little C Crush type game you know so you can do all these things on chain without actually having to go through and sign a transaction one at a time and that's
again that's all in the name of like ease of use and accessibility it's it's making things more interesting you know and another couple of like games I've noticed on our ecosystem you know they're finding different ways to like utilize like nfts in their game so it's still on chain but not every step is on chain you know it's still a game it's just utilizing like nft assets and all that and it's really just making things more open permissionless and like fun for people to utilize you know yeah I I think composability composability that's the word I was looking for that's another one to the username example is a great one for that because then I can carry my my username from social media to crypto Rumble like I I can have that consistent identity that consists in account and I think we're only going to
continue to see account abstraction like like get more colorful in a way like oh yeah you know you can put a username on your account mhm so so it's easy to log in and you have your username you feel this sense of attachment to it it's part of it's it's an extension of your own of your own like uh activity and then you can also I can I can picture like these games right where I have like a character and I'm able to take my character from crypto Rumble to crypto Candy Crush and I can like play these games as the same character on the same username and it's it's it's a really cool feeling to see Worlds Collide yeah and and that's part of what I I really love about this general purpose L2 that is home to such diverse applications m i
I find it very very cool to see that composability in in action and I'm curious um you guys are kind of gearing up for main net there's no like speci there's no specific date yet but you know you're you're starting to like kind of get to that point is there something that you would like to see built or maybe like Tao would like to see built like if you were there's a lot of Builders you know watching this if you would you know have a call to build something what would you say is like currently there's a space where a builder can come in and they can build something that would would find Value and make sense on Tao well I'd say especially because we're in a test net this is like a really good Launchpad to test out your
more experimental ideas so like what I can say right now is like our community is like comprised of like really motiv motivated and excited like community members that you know they like we've really you know focused our community around like education right so you know we get people joining our server just hearing about Tao and you know they've never you know run a node before they've never you know loaded up Docker they've never even opened up the terminal you know and so the whole premise of like what we're trying to do right now in the test net phase is to educate people get people excited about like what what does scaled ethereum look like you know what what's going to happen once you know things go to main it what are you going
to what's going to be on Tao what's going to be exciting you know and I think it's really introducing people into these like really new experimental ideas you know there's uh I've seen again lots of like experimental like dii protocols that are utilizing everything from like you know reaking on l2s to uh you know being able to lend out nfts utilizing them almost as like a bonding kind of structure you know so uh composable apps that kind of build on each other like like D5 Primitives that build on top of each other um but it's it's really it's really hard to like nail down like one specific type of like app that you'd like you know that we'd like to see on Tao again I I I think it's it's a little you know mix of
everything like I I personally I'm just a fan of games you know I'm I've been really blown away at seeing some of like the cool and interesting ideas that people have come up with to to you know rethink game mechanics when you actually take into account a web 3 integration you know it doesn't just have to be like you know plug-and-play nfts it can be like a whole you know independent and like free flowing like in-game economy that's based off of weird crypto economics you know we know how crazy that can get you know so G Gaming's a wild one it is you know and I I think it's uh it it's really anything if you have like a a kind of like a new fun idea whether it's in the name of like defi gaming accessibility you know wallets
infrastructure um you know things along the lines of like no running you know really anything that you want to like build all I can say is we have like a really big audience a really big community of people that just want to try out some really cool stuff yeah and and that is the Tao application layer and I think you know we spoke about account abstraction I think chain abstraction is another one that's coming soon and in this chain abstracted world I think it's the applications that rule it's like you're going to be hop around to different applications like their different websites maybe not knowing what chain that they run on um and and in that in that world I think applications become ever so important
because if you have the application that's the brand that people resonate that that's what you know that's what people go to that's what they have an affinity for yeah um and and that that's why I'm really excited about the application later on Tao yeah me too man I mean we could build like you know the best L2 out there have the best technicals best fundamentals but if we get to Main net we launch things happen and there's nothing to do there what's the whole point what's the whole point of building an entire Bas layer if you don't have like a vibrant ecosystem in community building on top of that yeah yeah well I mean go check out all of our all of our recent content on Tao our last video um we did a a run through of the ecosystem page and we highlighted
some of our our most like peculiar interesting experimental ideas that I I found very interesting and fun um and then for all of the technical content we've had conversations with the uh founder the technical team um and we go deep on on the based nature uh that uses the ethereum uh main L1 as a sequencer as well as the contestable nature of of the chain um and and it it is all very very cool stuff so thanks for coming on and thanks man I appreciate it yeah this was fun this was fun and uh we're here we're getting started at e Denver so let's let's make it excited man I'm excited let's have some fun
