now this is going to be very smooth because can you imagine that actually scott who from bitcoin was just uh presenting a second uh before actually collaborating on a book with our next speaker alabora um called impact dao and uh so now um we are ready for the talk about synthropy uh with such a sophisticated audience nobody needs an explanation when synthrophy means um the essence of impact dials so welcome to the stage ale borda hello ale um another inspiring speaker and like you can see when you meet her when you listen to her you have the sense of tranquility she's radiating and i tell you why it is because she
meditate meditates uh twice a day welcome to the stage and you take it away well thank you everyone for coming um i'm talking about yeah synthropy the esses effect dials but in like what that means is um in reality how do we actually encode our values into our economic systems and i think many of you guys all of us are very region into impact organizations looking to use us 3 for good for creating massive change and we're all familiar with this paradox of like we have two companies one is saving lives and the other one is kind of like killing people with like so they have those two companies and
then both have the same financial metrics like in paper they both look that they have the same revenue the same marketing the same financial metrics but one is killing people and the other one is curing people our current financial markets value those the same because right now we have no mechanisms to actually correct for our beliefs or encourage companies to actually support and the human and planetary thriving and i know all of us are familiar with that because our paths are here using what three or other tooling to actually change that but we actually don't realize often is that we as humans created these markets that we kind of cherish and we
choose to be part of them and operate on them but these markets are based on growth extraction and just like over excessive on material value and not really what we actually value as humans which is more nature connection experience health etc and we're going into the path of existential collapse and i'm sure most of you guys have heard about all these existential risks um ai in the environment safety etc and i was for example myself in a conference a few a few weeks ago and i was i heard a lot of these existential risks and i was like oh we're actually going to a place where the earth is gonna crash like there's no way we can
do anything like i was in this place or like oh i have actually no place here in making a change and it was this place of ex stagnation kind of thing where i had for no energy no potential or no like ability to create any change and change the system but then i came back to my usual state of being which is more grounded optimism in which we actually can change the way our system and where we are operating and also changing how we connect with humans and how we create these different systems and if we were to create a new system from scratch right now we would design positive outcomes at the core of our economic systems
and this takes two things one internal change changing our mindsets inspiring action inspiring visions and the other one designing the railroads or the incentive mechanisms that will actually make companies projects or other people to be able to stick to the internal change that we created and i think to enable to get there to enable to get to the solar panel future we need both and we need both from a transformational level because with one we can achieve funding and achieve sustainable business models but the other one is the one who will inspire people to wake up every day to jump off the couch and actually achieve those new missions and i think what 3 and technology is a massive
potential to do so because of things like digital currencies like encoding our values into these digital currencies in new ways of coordinating and new ways of making collective decision making with governance systems so economic systems are backed by nature but i they are growing the ecology as the economic growth and different coordination mechanisms so we agree that positive outcomes should be at the core of our economy at least that's what our conference is about and we agree that we need a kind of railroads and a system that encourages positive actions even if the people themselves their actions are are geared by individual desire so even if the bad player only seeks to increase
their economic growth just by playing within the system they're on track towards positive outcomes so how do we actually engineer that systems first of all is unlocking our capacity to create a lot of people actually don't see that we have potential like if i talk to my grandmother or my parents or other people who are working right now on the actual like nine to five and normal currencies they don't see another feature they're not able to imagine new new possibilities of change or these solar panel features that is the first step to actually get to that to that stage knowing that something else is out there and that we can use technology to create that knowing that we can create new monetary systems new transactions
new ways of flowing and binding our economics from other forms of capital are actually what is the first analog to actually be able to design these in systems because a lot of people are actually blind to these make new possibilities and i think the second one is agency we can now use web3 tooling and like different economic designs like for example organizations like token engineering commons who are doing a lot of different experiments in science to actually align individual incentives with collective good and reignite our capacity as creators right now we're used to just like finish school or whatever and go to these normal jobs normal
companies and just continue to do and operate as we usually do and we don't really recognize we have capacity to create with these new tokenomic designs and like inclu and designing new local accordingly that could be nested towards global economies we can see oh we can actually create from scratch we can have like complete design space and creativity to design these new things and then we kind of have to shift away from receiving from hyper efficiency into resiliency another thing we need to change within ourselves is this concept of like we're in continue seek of just material need just because our current um our our current way of living is not really
nourishing or experiential in the sense that for example if we go back to the agriculture in like u.s agriculture you're gonna eat you can eat like a lot a lot of food but you're not gonna be nourished or nutrient dense because that food is based out of quantity over production over consuming the same sense with a lot of the business economies we do and right now kind of like our economy is mainly based out of production and hyper efficiency instead of diversity instead of just optimizing for what will enhance the human experience on its own if we are in any way able to actually reassess what we value and how we transact as
value tax value we need to actually encode our values into the economic systems that we're eventually going to transact because we can say let's okay let's actually value connection less value the environment the ecological health less value experience and then just just trade or go back to the gift economy but if we want to see global change i think right now we need to meet the world where it's at and transact based on like where what our currencies is made out of like of value exchange and transacting through monetary currencies we need to change ourselves first that's the first premise we need to change what
excites us what like how we cooperate as humans what we value how we value things we need to go away from just like seeking more and more and seeking more quantity into seeking more quality of things in in the sense of like we need to be more sensitive to oh enjoying the like going out in nature enjoying the the fruit itself instead of trying to enjoy hyper industrialized products we need to change different systems that lead us to be faster and more efficient into diversity and like a different ways of approaches and one of the core things is there of course there's a lot of different ways to achieve change each impact now each project each currency there's like
so many approaches some people are talking ai others are talking science others are exploring new words roads others are trying to grow a garden either in their own house but the underlying layer is like we need to understand that we can actually change the system ourselves so we can actually have the agency to do so and once we we all understand as well through allowed us to do that we have the agency to create then every single one is gonna every single person might actually ask themselves like oh am i operating from the system that is aligned with my core values and my systems or should i just um achieve things differently and then we change the system one of the core things about
regeneration is a continuous evolution of becoming that will be which will sustain ecological life and also it is continuously adaptive system so it's always evolving always iterating and something that wether allows us to do or like other systems is these governance systems that are instead of implemented on top of large nation states where we assume that the power comes from top down these ones are implemented on small small communities small economies maybe 20 people 30 people and they have the ability to constantly iterate on their governance systems different economic designs different voting mechanisms creation markets
and one token one boat or things like quadratic voting when more more of the preference goes towards the people things people value rather than the amount of money they funnel to different funds we can continuously iterate and change our models we also have micro economies we can design things like cello that is doing like 40 of their currencies based on natural capital assets or at least that's the goal and like the aim we can design currencies that are backed by things that we actually care about and then iterate on small economies so that this can become later um shared stacks or sharing implementations towards other currencies
then we have to shift away from murder financial capital what if i'm an investor and i can instead of investing a project and just gain value if such project has like massive financial returns we can also gain a lot of value of retroactive funding once this project achieves massive social experiential or natural capital if the investment return is no longer financial then we can like shift our way of investing in projects and investing in what we want to see true in the world this is an example for example right now a cd company would have would seem to have like the same revenue and well obviously less cost a little bit than a positive sustainable company but also really the impact on the world the real
externalities are the positive actions that a positive company makes cleaner experience regeneration or the negative externalities that are not actually measured by us right now by the cd company and now if we actually see the reinduction results the actions in the world are much much different and one notion here is that these externalities are very like separated from us like we don't actually feel them as much for example we've seen poverty we've seen climate change being affected by like all the different companies and projects but we don't feel it until now that it's actually very very like essential for us
to tackle it or we have some company tackling trees in the amazon but we don't feel it because it's very far away from us and any negative functionality will be like just a percentage on our individual costs so we don't actually internalize it so how do we increase the feedback loops and the mechanisms so that these externalities and we understand how they affect us and the world around us and one of those ways is um with redesigning incentive systems one of the ways in which we can do that is impact certificates so we first define what we value and how much we value it for example we value the soft work that people do in these systems like coordinate or systems
like that value contribution different ways we can actually value like the weaving the connecting or like the vibes that people bring then we track and measure what we value so that we as we get tracked it gets tracked then it becomes a goal and it's something we optimize towards and then we may assign monetary value or other kinds of forms of capital to those actions so we can transact and base our actions on that and then we create visible physical loops that that lends into what i said in the earlier slide in which we usually don't see the positive outcomes or the negative externalities because they're like there are a large scale and don't affect us individually but if we can create visible feedback loops into each
individual action and and give contribution an attribution to each action then it becomes very very tangible for us to make better decisions and we create incentives so for additional impactful actions like retractive funding if it becomes a norm that every time or every project that has like massive possibly good in the world actually gets back the value in any form of capital then people are going to be more incentivized to intrinsically go and do these impact projects before um because they're gonna eventually receive a return that will eventually lead them to have continuous positive outcomes then we are turning into re-engineering like value flows
like right now things like in science for example ip just stops collaboration many people are attacking the same rna problem the same way like okay how do we solve this sickness and they cannot share ip with each other because of the incentive design because of wanting to publish more um special or like unique um um different studies instead of like replicating or instead of collaborating with them it's the same thing with business ip how can we actually enable a constantly flowing economy or currencies that actually that enable us to share and collaborate with each other such as for example impact dials that can stack and one will be
working on the currency design and implementation while the other one is working on that tech stack well the other one is working maybe on the actual oh how do we actually regenerate the ecology and how do we create the tools for that and we stack each of them together and each impact or each project can tend to their own expertise and then share the value of their expertise with others we also here kind of like redesign how we measure impact and how we measure the actions of things for example it's no longer about outcomes or quantity or like the different specific outcomes that each organization
enabled it is more about the leverage points that they're tackling are they actually tackling at deep transformational points that will create the rippling effects on the other system are they enabling other organizations to become better at what they are doing or are they just like focus on their own mission because as we change how we how we think about things how we operate how we see business uh landscape to be is to a more collaborative cooperative interoperable aspect as well three is then it is more about like what did i enable in others how do i inspire others how do i enable tooling or different information for others to become better at um achieving these like massive missions because the world is
pretty up right now and like we don't need to be like individualistic on like the individual strategy but rather like okay let's have all they just collectively sense make of what's better and this is another thing on grounder optimism and collective sense making in which sometimes we think that once like we're trying to achieve the best impact measurement the best solution for things but often is more about like ideating or creating the tools and mechanisms that will allow us for quick figure loops quick implementation and iteration quick experiments and also blending many many different both strategies forms of capital
perspectives for example we can blend impact certificates with retroactive funding with art and impact and nfts that will inspire people to actually buy and support and even understand the science for example i was talking farsight i don't know if they're here but they're doing existential hope and they're kind of like encouraging and motivating people to understand like through art the science that their scientists are are tackling the same thing we do at 50 years which we kind of like encourage entrepreneurs to inspire others about their visions even if they're working on like scientific things are hard to understand for like people who are not really into biology
but how do we actually enable other people to see the outcome of the heart mission that they're tackling grounded also grounded in the fact that we need less we need more experiential and more like nourishing and like highly like experience dance and nutrient-dense things rather than right a lot of materiality and grounded in what nature needs what each human needs and grounded also in the fact that we need to do everything and we need to do many things but it is mainly based on collaboration each of us achieving our own little node in the network and it are continuously iterating on the best way to collaborate and finally grounded on that we need the actual
scientific or logical base but also the cultural the indigenous wisdom and anything and everything else so thank you [Applause] [Music] you
