SOTS #18: an IDEAL beacon chain launch, pooled staking, quiz game

hey everybody superfiz here december 1st 2020 today is the day that the beacon chain launch occurred um it is the first step toward the ethereum two scaling solution and i can't stop smiling things could not have gone better than they went this morning we currently have about 95 participation we began the network around 82 or 83 percent uh just a fantastic morning a fantastic launch we have so many people involved in in this network as stakers uh as home stakers i am so so proud and honored to be a part of the east staker community because i know that we empowered a lot

of home stakers to take that plunge to put down 32 ether and to become a validator and it's working like i know that most of us are online because we have such a high participation rate so congratulations thank you for being a part of this journey thank you for trusting the developers and the clients um this is just it's phenomenal um you know if you look back at the test nets there were so many hiccups and it you know it was kind of discouraging to not have any value at stake to really stand behind the network but when push came to shove when people put their money where their mouth

is the network is just running like a top right now and there are gonna be problems what i need you to do is to keep your eye out for updates install client updates as soon as they're available and report problems if you find something a little strange with your client especially if you're using a minor client then please report it to that team and either get support for it or give them the information to get it fixed so wow there are two things i want to talk about really quickly today the first one is the next direction for the east stake or organization up until this point we have

been laser focused on solo stakers and we will always be an ecosystem that puts solo staking first but we are also an inclusive organization and we want to include everyone that's staking as a first-class citizen so the next focus um we'll be looking at is supporting people who do not have 32 ether but still want to stake and the big risk of loss here is that you set you sign up with a pool or you join a pool that somehow causes you to lose your funds and that is really what we want to help you avoid

and so we've set up the ethereum due diligence committee that's at ddc.org it is a a standing committee of very talented subject matter experts who will take time to review pooled offerings and basically make a recommendation that can supplement your own due diligence now you need to do your own due diligence before submitting to a pool please do not buy into marketing but what you can do is supplement that due diligence with information from the ethereum due diligence committee and that will help you choose a pool that will enable you to safely participate

in pooled staking without as much risk of losing funds there is always additional risk when you involve third parties but what we want to help you do is mitigate and reduce that risk to something that's more manageable so east ddc.org check it out we have some stuff coming out soon if you're interested in poolstaking i strongly need to encourage you to wait i'm going to be talking a lot more about pulled staking in the next few days and weeks it's a great time to learn the risk is that you'll yolo in and lose your funds and i definitely don't want that to happen to you so please be a little patient the second thing i'd like to talk about is uh we had a really fun trivia game

last last month i don't know about a month ago and we've decided to hold a second um trivia game that's going to be scheduled for december 5th it's coming really soon it's in about four days and we're looking for people who want to participate you can participate by submitting questions and we're also interested in collecting sponsors now if you're a sponsor you'll get your name uh your brand shown um on the um on the trivia queue and i'll we'll give honest and organic feedback um definitely nothing negative about your product but we'll give fair and honest feedback about your product um organic and natural if if you want to be a sponsor and then

that prize money goes to the people who participate as an incentive for them to get involved we're holding a raffle for a participant you can check that out at poapp.fun obviously you'll get a poep for participating you can learn more about all of this uh at eaststaker.cc and there's an events calendar there or you can look at reddit uh for the um we sometimes we'll call it a quiz and sometimes we call it a trivia we're working on the branding for that um just ask one of us in the uh estate or discord if you can't find it um but really eatstaker.cc will get you there it's an exciting program i really hope you get involved with it it's a a ton of fun um you can win some ether and um
