okay yeah yeah let's assume that I know he's was fing under the weather so it's just going to be us but let's let's go ahead and begin so welcome everybody to uh this week's Community call for those that don't know me I'm Ken I'm one of the rocket scientists here and I get a host the community calls here and I'm joined today with uh with Darren Darren good good to talk to you hello how are you I'm doing pretty good I'm actually excited for this one because uh not only do we have the bi-weekly to cover some stuff but uh we're going to talk a little bit about uh a lot of the activities that are going on and I've had a a little chance of a preview on this because the GMC gets an opportunity every uh every couple of weeks to do a touch base with
the team to make certain that the GMC's activities are kind of aligned with the team member so I got a little bit of preview of some of the stuff you're going to cover today and I think it's going to be really really great for the community to hear so I'm looking forward to it well let's uh let's start with uh the bi-weekly update here and it always starts off on the section here a little bit about uh just some uh stats about the re Supply uh slight decline over the last two weeks of down 0.2% um the pending and active mini pool count kind of declined significantly more at about minus 2% over the last two weeks and the node operator count as
folks remind me each time only goes up it went up just slightly up about 0.2% which means it's about about holding uh steady on there for it um but the next section is H talk about the smart node and I guess we're nearing uh kind of the testing completion of V2 and perhaps a release of V2 on the horizon um Darren you want to tell us a little bit about uh where we are with the smart node release and when when does v V1 retire and when does V2 come out yeah cool so um so the last like week and a half or so um probably two weeks actually um we've been testing uh beta 3 um and uh kind of going through little like a full test uh kind of Suite
um on it so um that's looking well we discovered a few issues with um beta beta 3 um but recently um we've produced beta 4 which corrects all those issues um and looking solid um so gone through and re kind of retested um the areas that were um not working before um and so that's that's that's looking um really solid so uh we're very very confident in beta 4 beta 4 is going to probably is going to be the last beta um I think there's still one outstanding issue um with uh that we're just checking into it may or may not be an issue but there was some inconsistencies
with with treen so we want to make sure obviously that that is uh that is kind of resolved or you know at least um figured out whether it's an issue or not um so uh we just looking at that um also but that's uh basically that's basically it um there's not much more left to do on beta 2 so um we're very confident on BET 2 now um so once um once we've just tided up those last bits um we can then um figure out how we communicate the kind of like the changeover between V1 and V2 um essentially it will be a release but we'll probably do a protocol announcement as well to say you know this is the the next um major release
and that sort of thing um but yeah so that'll be um that'll be really good um yeah it's been a long time coming but it's it's good to be out there just a kind of like a a recap really but V2 is a groundup um kind of like rebuild of of the smart node um it has a lot of benefits over V1 um in terms of particularly in terms of performance um but also with integration um and and just general kind of uh maintainability um going forward so uh it's definitely it's an awesome um upgrade but it has kind of like been kind of an almost a a ground up um sort of thing so that's why it's kind of
taken quite a while to do um yeah no it's it's it's um it's in a really good place now um and we can we can now kind of swap over so that we're not maintaining two builds um which we've been doing at the the moment so it's really good then I know you're going to hit this question but when do you think that will happen here so um so we've got so I I can't really say because of this this issue with trien um it has the propensity either we can we might solve that like today or it we might it might take a few days to kind of like solve um uh I would I would hope that we could do it within
the next like week or two um or at least get a get a final build out in the next week or two um it just depends on that that particular bug it's a bit of a pernicious kind of like bug so uh it's a it's a tricky one to track down so uh patches and fornex are working on it at the moment um and um and Thomas is is kind of like tidying up the other bits and pieces and so I would expect within the next couple of weeks so ideally V2 before before Devcon yes yeah definitely before Defcon okay okay excellent something something really good that the community can look
forward to uh let's continue on then to the next section the R&D section uh it indicates that Saturn contract implementation work continues uh the Houston hot fix has been uh completed here um maybe let's talk about the hot fix first and then you can talk talk a little bit about the Saturns that are coming um tell us about that hot fix where are we at where's the audits when does it go to test net tell us everything the community needs to know about the hot fix yeah cool awesome so hot fix um the audits are now complete uh we should be able to make those reports public very soon um uh I want to can't time it but I want to probably make those audits um live next week
um so we got the audits are done uh there wasn't really much that came out of it there there were kind of some very small um things that that Kan kind of like fixed up in the fix checks um which was really good um yeah kind of both audits done it's there was like a partial audit by um the person who raised the um the MiFi bug Bounty as well um and one from Sigma Prime um we won't get a report for the set for the for the the other one but we'll get a report from Sigma Prime um and uh so all the audits are done the government stuff is kicked off uh so obviously I I posted a sentiment poll uh last week for the hot fix um that's got
some positive um response so we can move to raising it for a vote uh so I'm going to raise that vote either over the weekend or um on Monday and so that will kind of like um be open for voting um from then um the uh in terms of like uh so the te there's we've also got the contracts kind of load up for the the hot fix I'm also finishing off some devet testing for that and we'll be pushing it to test net next week as well for kind of like beta testing and um and and that sort of thing so uh so that that should be good so yeah everything's kind of like
bubbling along um in terms of that um so obviously if the vote gets raised on Monday then that'll be two weeks for the vote um and then um and then it's deployment and uh and the Odell uh kind of like delay which will be another seven days um so like basically 3 to four weeks in terms of that um that launching okay yeah a lot to lot to digest in there and then uh where in the process do you expect the new contract the hot fix code to go up on the unify Bounty for those in the community that also want a bounty hunt so uh I want to try and do it as
early as possible um so I think I'm going to do it um on Monday so we'll publish the the audit reports um and the and the and move the immuni um or at least yeah yeah change it so that the it's a it's mildly tricky um because with the immuni stuff it's kind of like a code crossover so I haven't actually I haven't actually fully decided when we'll open that up I'd like to open it up as soon as possible because I think that's beneficial to have it as open as soon as possible but I also don't want to kind of like preempt governance um so that's what I'm kind of like balancing
at the moment yeah yeah I get that that you bring the the vot up that's going to be rpip 63 right that comes up and you don't want to pre pre-pre some outcome of it but the settlement poll was very strongly in favor and um you know want to be like a foregone conclusion we still need to respect the vote of the community but but it does seem that kind of with um I don't want to call it the urgency but just with timing we can parallel process here and get a couple of things without I think upsetting the community too much on this yeah I mean worst worst case I can like leave it a week um because after a week we'll probably have a good indication that it will pass or not um and so um I could
leave it a week and then and then raise the and then do the immuni stuff um yeah that that's what I'm kind of thinking in the moment okay okay perfect um any other things about the hot pcks that you want to cover um no I think that's basically basically it um as said the government is tracking forward uh testing is moving forward um at vote and that sort of stuff so yeah it's good okay okay now let's uh turn our talk a little bit here to the Saturn contracts and even in the GMC I got a little uh little backwards here and wack wack was great to kind of help me out here and I had forgotten that in uh in
Saturn right we originally had talked about the Saturn release and there was a series of R Pips with really rpip 4 n being kind of the major one of the features we wanted in in Saturn and I think you were going to break that into Saturn one and Saturn 2 and then um you know later in conversations that came up here about the eth only mini pools that settlement uh a sediment um um poll had just come to conclusion and there's another rpip rpip 62 that kind of introduces something called Saturn zero which are these these lower yielding e only mini pools um so we kind of have three things in play right now right the
the Pres presumptive um vote for Saturn zero um the already approved vote for Saturn one and Saturn two and it seems like a lot of a lot of work is being done on on these things here can you maybe fill us in a little bit here and take them take them in any any order you like tell us about Saturn one Saturn zero Saturn 2 yeah so uh so how what's kind of playing out at the moment is we've got uh iip 62 which is the E only mini pool stuff that you mentioned um that is in sentiment pole at the moment it's been in sentiment Poll for two weeks um and I think it concludes
basically today um I would expect that to go up to vote next week as well um uh so that um the the community can vote on whether that's um like a direction that we want to go in um the idea behind 62 is to kind of try to deliver eth only mini pools uh to kind of compete with li CSM sooner rather than L later obviously satin one is going to take us a little bit of time to to build so um and with the imminent release of uh L CSM I think there's there's definitely a push there to kind of like compete with them um so
that's that's some of the rationale behind um 62 uh and let me ask I think I know the answer too in 62 it's it's all just protocol settings there's no real code that's issued and deployed it's just changing the existing settings to align with what the rpip is right there's no there's no smart there's there's no real smart node code a smart contract code although even even that statement is not completely true so in in the rpip to to so in actually in rpip 63 There are two elements that uh this is the hot fix
actually so in the hot fix there are two elements that uh relate to opip 62 but don't actually turn um e only you know mini pools on it just makes them possible in the future if we decide to so there's one that is uh being able to set the uh the minimum RPL stake to zero because currently you can't do that it will actually like uh cause um some reverts that cause revert um so uh we fix that as a as a as a bug fix um anyway we want to fix that as a bug fix anyway because we don't you know we don't want that situation anyway um there is one Al one other component
which is changing the there's like this scrub penalty so if you um if you try to exploit the protocol using um by depositing first uh and claiming like these reward uh sorry withdrawal credentials and then then depositing through rocket pool uh your mini pool can get scrubbed and um that there is a scrub penalty on that for a security reason um and that's be that's to mainly make sure that um uh the the odal but basically can't be gas dosed so in a roundabout sort of way that's needed for for for cite security um but if you set the RPL stake to zero there's
no RPL to um use for the penalty as it currently uses RPL at the moment so one of the things that's in the hot fix is to change it to um use eth instead um so it's not a uh it's still there's still a penalty there so we're not really changing the functionality but we are changing the how that penalty is applied um and so that's actually in the hot fix because uh that will go out um kind of like sooner but as I said before that doesn't activate eth only um mini pools it just makes them possible if we want to do that um rpip that's rpip 63 rpip 62 um only
includes uh parameter changes and changes to treen so it does it does have changes to code um but it's at the treen level not at the Smart contract level um so just to kind of have that distinction yeah no thank you for explaining that and then in in terms of let's say that uh let's say that it you know it goes to I mean settlement poll said it it it needs to go to vote right or I mean it's yeah unless there's a huge Shi shift in the in the remaining time voting and and settlement polling uh and then it goes to vote let's just foreshadow a little bit I know this is a sometimes dangerous to do but it seems if the if the actual vote is very similar to the set the sediment it will
um it will be strongly uh in favor of passing so let's assume that it does just for the sake of conversation here um what do you think is a realistic time frame uh you would have already had the hot fix coding in so it's just really parameter changes in some work on the tree gen can you maybe explain a little bit about that and when you think um when you think Saturn zero would be a realistic launch date yeah so um it depends on how long it takes to develop the tree changes the tree changes are not necessarily um complicated but we want to make sure that they're obviously done you you know robust way um and that um
you know this gives given adequate testing and all that sort of stuff um I would I would comfortably say by the end of the year um it may be slightly sooner like kind of like November but um yeah it really does depend on how that uh how that kind of like testing and um and the development and testing kind of goes but that's that's kind of like the target at the moment if if that was to if that vote was to go through okay excellent so that does seem like that would be a fairly uh fairly quick turnaround time between uh ped approval and actual implementation of
that uh that uh that the Saturn zero protocol upgrade yeah yeah okay perfect and then at the same time I think you guys are also working on Saturn one and two maybe you're working on jointly or uh focusing on some part can you can you share a little bit about about Saturn one or two yeah so um well basically we're working on Saturn one um although some overlapping Saturn 2 but we're on Saturn one so um so that's been going really well uh so uh Kane has built out a like a verifier uh for verifying Beacon chain State routes U which is used in a few
different places within the uh within the satin contracts or the satin MEAP contract to um do things like uh withdrawals and um uh and exiting and um and also uh depositing actually so actually specifically staking um uh so there's a few there's few areas where that's used to he's developed that uh we've worked on the megap contract and the delegation system uh we've worked on the deposit mechanism um and the cues like the kind of the express CU and the normal queue I guess I'm say coming where specifically
said in the in the rpip um but yeah so there there's so we've definitely um gotten into the into the work and gotten uh into it so one of the one of the things I'm going to one of the things that we're doing in like parallel to to work on it is uh we've got to go through and essentially put all of the stuff in a in a like a tracking system so that we can uh do things like Milestone tracking and all of that sort of thing so we're going through decomposition um uh next week um breaking down those tasks and actually putting it into the tracking system so that we can track towards milestones and uh and essentially you know make those
public so that um you guys can um have some transparency on um how things are moving along and how things are going um but yeah that's that's what we're working on kind of next week basically is putting it all into the the tracking system um but we are making really great really good progress uh the the team are kind of like cranking through the um the code so um it's going yeah it's going really well that's yeah that's great to hear and uh you know I'm even looking in uh trading here and I think the community is going to be very responsive to the Milestone tracking you know we very much like the Monday Morning Quarterback here but it's really great to just be able to follow kind of in real time the progress
and success the team is having so I think that would be really great to uh to break it into those Milestones as you say to De decompose it into deconstruct it into those milestones and and then we can track it um what's your what's your expected kind of vtaa for um uh you know Saturn one I know that one's a little far out but uh like do you have a a sense of a of a launch window that you'd like to see that one launched by I mean it is it is very difficult to tell at this early stage um I mean we're targeting kind of like end of Q2 Q beginning of Q3 um but that is only really kind of like a guesstimate at the
moment so that's why it's quite it's quite vague um but as we as we get bit Clos so or as we particularly as we get this stuff into the like the tracking system uh we can we can start at least um at least having like a Target uh it will still be a range because we're never going to be able to um pin it down until we're a bit closer um but we will be able to timeline it a lot easier um once we start getting through the work and knowing how quickly we can actually get through this work um and we can get some build some momentum and that sort of thing so um yeah we we'll know a lot more um as we go but I think the the
Milestones are probably the key thing um if we're ticking through and we're you know hitting those Milestones uh then then we'll be you obviously the the final Milestone will be uh um you know where we want to land and if we're ticking through those Milestones then we'll then we're on target um in terms of like what those Milestones come look like at the moment I'm thinking um there'll be kind of like things like devet releases or test net releases um actually probably not test net releases because that's our staging environment but devet releases where um we might have a bit of a open devet um thing going on uh where um people can play
around with it but things like you know similar to what ethereum does in terms of so devet zero for example will include these things devet one release will include these things have to release these things and all that sort of thing that's kind of how I'm thinking of structuring out those Milestones yeah very interesting we got trading kind of real time trying to figure out do we take the uh the dates that Langer said and double them you know always take the uh always take the deliverables that somebody in it gives you and double them or uh or do we have the right right dates of what what quarter we're in right now and which ones are coming but it sounds like it's it's probably at best on a on a six Monon time Horizon
from today is what you're thinking am I hearing you correctly or am I doing the dates wrong yeah no that's uh that's right yeah six months and then nsha also put in trading a little bit earlier back on the topic of Saturn zero and he pointed out um uh some of the instructions in there in arpit 62 which was we could I guess under its instructions just make the protocol parameter changes and then even if the reward tree um calculations have to come some period of time an award cycle or two afterwards um we could do that so presumably I guess then if that's true um could we not then you
know really launch Saturn zero almost uh almost within a week after the vote concludes um potentially the only the only uh potentially it dep depends on some I'll have to double check my kind of like timelining it it depends on a little bit we need to do some testing first but yeah may maybe that's um maybe that's true yeah I'm not sure I have to double check yeah well thank you n for
bringing it up but yeah I mean that could be um really good but I think definitely something to kind of look at at least to get a a quick win of some points on the board and then especially if Saturn one is really going to be six months out right it would be good to to get something in quick and then um and then uh you know and then we can focus a lot more on Saturn one and how to accelerate that or how to make that launch on time any uh any other things about uh Saturn or R&D in general um no I think that's mainly what we are kind of uh like focused on
um yep sat certain one the the only other thing is when we turn on uh like the pedal voting um that's probably um that's probably more like um that's after the hot fix so once we've released the hot fix um we will be able to turn on pedal voting and eventually and we'll schedule when we turn off the um the uh ped Guardian so that that'll come just after the the hot fix as well that's the other thing that's kind of like on the on the horizon oh thank you I totally forgot about that very important topic and I
guess uh are there any roadblocks for that I know earlier on we wanted to make sure enough people had enabled on onchain voting um are we at that threshold where really it's just finding a date and doing the ceremony or are there some Road Blocks no I think we've got we've got enough in terms of the initialized vote power I think we've we've implemented that kind of like auton thing just to from from a technical reason to get the the initialized vote power up but um yeah think we had enough we had enough vote initialized so we're good to go in terms of that um it's just we just we just need to have these the hot fixes in
because two of the items in that hot fix were kind of like IMM UniFi bug Bounty things around the on Trend voting so we need we need those in place before we turn it on um just to be um 100% and covered and then in your kind of timeline once the hot fix is deployed out there what are you thinking like two weeks after the the hot fix is out on mainnet or you know do we think we're going to enable onchain voting before Decon or help me just in time in time timelines here uh yeah I would imagine like maybe a week after I got to double check my timeline as well to be honest um but um CU I I think a week
after we may it may have to wait until after Devcon I'm it just depends on because I think we'd rather be kind of like fully here when we like turn stuff on uh rather than you know imminently flying out to to Bangkok so it it's likely it's after Bank uh after Devcon but I'll I'll double check I was going to say you can YOLO it and do it on the the plane Wi-Fi and deploy the contracts as you uh head out you know come on yeah okay so yeah PR not PR not to do that yeah but so this could be really two two good wins uh two points on the board relatively quick for Rocket pool um so
that that' be really good then um anything else before we go on to governance which actually has a lot of Saturn on it still but uh anything else in R&D no I think that's cool MAV did include in the governance section he did include the uh discussions on the Dow Forum including the uh settlement poll on our pip 62 which we talked about that's the Saturn zero um and so uh and then the other one is the sediment pole on R pip 63 uh which is the Houston hot fix this is a kind of a little bit the for us before the cart right we you know we probably should have created this instead we kind of made the fix and now we're now we're
officially voting on the on the corrections in the fix but getting everything kind of aligned with with governance here and langinger either you might have said uh in the the GMC call are here you're hoping to get both of these out to the official vote uh the snapshot voting uh when well technically I'm only really uh involved in 603 rip 63 um I'll need to double check with the rpip 62 buers um but upip 63 um we like upip 63 it sent poll I think finishes actually tomorrow so uh either we'll we'll probably get it
up for vote realistically Monday so um uh so that that'll be uh on Monday I haven't heard about 62 but I assume it's coming so um uh I think because their sentiment poll finishes today so I'd imagine we're going to vote on that on Monday as well um but yeah I I'll kind of hold off on confirming that okay I guess it's up to Sam and Val that have been kind of driving that about the timing so I might might throw I don't know if they're listening or in the chat but uh feel free to to speak or come on if you have a little bit sense as the terms of the
timing there um and then uh last in the governance section here was the IMC reports uh have been produced it's always good to see the accounting of the reports of uh any of the management committees the IMC the incentive management committee or the grants management committee um always good if you're interested to see how the protocols funds are being used to take a look at the uh the budget reports that are produced couple of Integrations um uh MAV indicates that re is Now supported by an LP optimization protocol uh tokomak XYZ um had a had a release out um there was a number of things in media
and marketing um there's a new RPL listing on an exchange as always MAF says do your own research that's on there and then one of the other types of defi was a Futures listing that was also listed in there so take a look at both of those U Bey announced that there was a boosted rewards on the RPL re pairing um so if you have either RPL or re and are interested in a little bit of defi there could be a a boosted reward opportunity for you and then there were uh two recent uh Community calls if you haven't heard them lately one was uh uh featuring um archive and the other one was um
Keno so those were were two calls the recordings are up on YouTube so if you missed both of those feel free to umh to listen in on that and that was a kind of a short um by weekly update there uh Darren anything that we haven't covered yet on today's call that is important for the community to know no I think we covered off um all the pressing stuff that's a it's cool thank you Ken yeah it's been been a pleasure here and then it also sounds like uh the team pretty much most if not all the team uh is uh planning for devcom which is uh mid November but
that's actually not too far away I think we're we're less than 60 days away correct yeah yeah it's not it's not far is it um yeah and uh I suppose you'll let us know if there's any word about the rocket pull Meetup during that week yeah yeah so uh I'll get um M have to um put something together about how how we're going to get together and that's thing I'm sure um we we'll hang out um at Devcon itself but ideally we can um do some sort of social thing as well um yeah that'll be fun okay excellent excellent well it's been an absolute pleasure to spend uh a good 40
45 minutes with you and to learn more about it and it sounds like uh there could be some really neat opportunities coming up pretty fast here with some of the easy wins from rocket pool and I'm very excited to learn more about uh uh the kind of milestone way points with Saturn one I think once we clear the clear the board with the hot fix and Saturn zero get kind of the easy things out of the way then really it's just in a you know it's running that Marathon to the completion of Saturn one so I'm looking forward to it yeah it's definitely it's definitely exciting it's exciting to be to be uh you know making progress on certain one now I think it's
um uh yeah it's it's definitely it's definitely exciting to to move that now oh and I did see sorry one last question that came in in trading here from Lee um all the way back to our first topic about uh smart node B1 to V2 um how hard is it to upgrade what should node operators be kind of preparing for when that comes out um I have to ask the guys we we'll put together like a um an upgrade sheet obviously um to make sure that um maybe like a medium article to show have how to actually should probably be in the documentation as well so what format that that takes we Haven quite decided um but there'll be um
basically a migration guide um for it uh it shouldn't be too difficult I mean going forward it'd be super easy because once you're um it's actually if you're using like Linux um it's all built into apt and that sort of thing um but um yeah it that migration will kind of like lay out for you guys so so that um everything's kind of like tested and easy if if a if a regular version one upgrade from just you know one point 10 to 1.11 if that's a that's a three on a on a one to 10 scale what do you think uh version one to version two
is going to be is that greater than three what number what number of difficulty would that be if a if the V1 upgrade is just three I don't think it's that difficult but I'll I'll get with the guys maybe like a four maybe maybe I don't know um I haven't go do poses yet I've been testing the a new like a new new thing so I need to actually go through the migration all right well I've got complete confidence that no matter what what score it is there'll be excellent documentation that's always expect a rocket Po and I'll I'll be
doing I'll be doing my nodes before I release it to everyone else so if I can do it everyone else can do it perfect perfect all right langers well again it's been a pleasure and uh we'll chat next time and for everyone else in the community here thank you for joining us and feel free to hang out here in the chitchat Channel afterwards if you like this gang bye uh
