POAP.art Explainer Video
EthStaker Workshops and Technical Guides · January 2021 · 9:19
This EthStaker workshop explains POAP.art, a project built around Proof of Attendance Protocol tokens that lets holders turn their POAP collections into generative or collectible artwork. It walks through how the platform reads a wallet's POAP history and translates event attendance into visual output. The explainer situates POAP.art within the broader use of POAPs as an on-chain record of participation across Ethereum events and communities.

00:54 - Introduction
hello my fellow aetherians some of you may already know me i am invitiga.eth one of the core crew members out of the east acre community and this is the poop.art explainer series where we go step by step in explaining exactly what the poop.art platform is how to draw on the public canvas as well as providing some pro tips for some power users we then end this by offering common solutions to common issues when using the beta version of po-op.art a couple items to note here there are two prerequisites required in order to fully utilize the po-op.art platform the first one is a non-hardware equipped metamask account
the second is an eligible po-op in which to access the public canvas we'll go over both of those processes within this entire guide all right so without further ado let's get into it now before we get into the thick of things what exactly is co-op dot art pop dot art is the newest experiment by poep that sits at the intersection of art and technology specifically po-opted art is an interactive digital canvas that allows artists of all abilities to collaborate with one another and make original pieces of pixel art and then mint them later as an nft effectively cementing your art digitally on the blockchain forever now the world premiere of po-op.art was on april
01:47 - POAP.art History
15th 2021 during the berlin upgrade party hosted by the east acre community this event had 226 individual artists collaborating together placing over 63 000 individual pixels on a canvas over a period of over 70 minutes at the end of the call the canvas was minted as an nft and then put up for auction so how do you access pop.art and how do you start participating and contributing to these canvases let's get into that but first just to note this does require a non-hardware connected metamask account now if you don't already have one if you're watching this on youtube there's a link in the description going over specifically step by step on how to create
04:10 - How to claim your POAP for entry
and open up your own metamask account if you're following along on the e-staker tutorial on e-staker.cc the link is just below this video currently poep.art has a public canvas open for anyone to participate located at sandbox.coop.art and it's worth noting that popup.art currently is in beta version and new features and bug fixes are being deployed frequently like other tools developed by po-op like poep.fun and pop dot poll pull up dot art also requires the use of an eligible co-op in order to access the platform itself luckily there is a public po-op claim process that you can use to obtain your eligible co-op and access the
public canvas the first thing we're going to do is to head over to sandbox dot co-op dot art and you'll be greeted with this screen here this is the public beta for co-op dot art now in order to join this canvas the first thing we can do is click on the and we'll enter into the canvas with all this amazing pixel art now for us to participate the first thing we need to do is connect our wallet click on connect wallet and once we connect to our wallet we're greeted with this message that says that we're not able to participate because we haven't yet downloaded our eligible co-op to give us access so let's go ahead and do that the first thing we're going to do is head over to the po-op discord located at co-op dot art slash discord
once in the pop.art discord if we go to the members list and then scroll down to find the po-op bot once the po-op bot has been found go ahead and send the code word week 17 as a message the bot will send us a co-op claim link we'll go ahead and click on that link which provides us with the eligible co-op that will grant us access to the canvas now if we connect our wallet we're greeted with a new message asking us to sign and participate click on sign and participate
05:06 - How to draw on the POAP.art canvas
we will be asked to sign a message with your meta mask wallet once you've signed you'll notice this color palette in the bottom right hand corner now to start drawing what we do is let's pick a color let's say green and let's use this green nice and bright if we click one time it'll zoom into the canvas into this pixel grid and we can begin dropping pixels and look at that we're now participating
and drawing in the public canvas on poop dot art so we've gone over exactly what poop dot art is and how to obtain the eligible pull-up in order to access and participate on the public beta for po-op.art now let's review a couple of the pro tips in order to make your po-op.r experience a little bit more special because this canvas is so large to begin with sometimes depending on the complexity and scale of your art it can make switching between colors and zooming in and out a bit tedious so one of the things to make that easier is say for example i want to place a green pixel onto this homer simpson head
06:37 - POAP.art Protips
which is very very small all i have to do instead of zooming in manually is after i've chosen a color is to click one time and it zooms into the canvas without placing a pixel another pro tip is especially with large canvases like this if you're trying to collaborate with other artists it's helpful to know exactly where you are within the canvas you'll notice in the address bar there are coordinates this is your general screen location and we can see that update as we move around now we're here and if we move over here now our coordinates change also what's more is if we right click any pixel
we can see the color code the owner or wallet address that placed that individual pixel and the date and time in which that pixel was placed so we've gone over exactly what po-op.art is how to access the canvas and retrieve your eligible po-op and also offering a few pro tips for users that want to make their user experience a little bit easier now let's offer some solutions to some common problems seen on the beta version of po-op.art a common problem we're seeing within the po-op bot claim process is after you put in the correct code word week 17 you don't seem to be getting messages from the po bot that is a simple user preference
08:39 - Troubleshooting Tips
change first what we need to do in the bottom left hand corner is to go to user settings next go to privacy and safety and then make sure that you have allow direct messages from server members enabled once you have this feature enabled you will then receive the claim code from the po-op bot and you'll be able to access the pull-up.art canvas another item to note here and why we're stressing non-hardware enabled metamask wallets and that is because currently the po-op suite of tools that are available today do not support hardware enabled metamask accounts that either is ledger tracer or the other options available today
what it does require is that the po-op badge itself be on the software version of metamask so what do you do if you've already made the transfers and your pull-ups are on your hardware wallet while you're in luck there is a solution head on over to unft wallet.xyz and we're gonna go ahead and connect our metamask account you can see that we have a select few co-ops on this wallet that's not compatible if this is your case where you're trying to transfer your hardware wallet co-ops over to your software based metamask account simply hit transfer and then put the wallet address of a non hardware enabled metamask account and it
will transfer you over once you have it transferred you can go ahead and sign into the po-op.art canvas so that is po-op.art so we've gone over exactly what the platform is how to access the public canvas and also gone over a few pro tips for users we've also gone over and outlined a few solutions to common problems when interacting with sandbox.poop.art if you have any questions or would love to collaborate with other artists please join us over at the poop.org discord server again the url to access that if you haven't already joined is po-op dot art slash discord there's an incredibly welcoming community there we'd love to have you there is no question too small and we
