Awesome. Yeah, you can go ahead and get started. Welcome  everyone. Hi, my name is Sophia. I lead developer relations at Cello. And today I will be talking  a bit about how you can build mini apps on Cello. And specifically, we'll go into technical details  on one of the fastest ways to build and vibe code a mini app, ways that you can grow, and ways that  you can actually earn revenue on your applications while building in the Cello ecosystem. If you  want to follow along with everything that I'll be talking about, feel free to check us out on  GitHub. In our discussions page, I have a tutorial on building a mini app with Cello Composer. It'll  lead you through the exact code that I'm pasting, the prompts that I'm pasting, why mini apps,  and all the helpful links that you'll need

to get started. So, feel free to check that out,  scan that QR code, and follow along on your own. A quick show of hands. Who here is familiar with  the Cello ecosystem? Maybe like a quick, have you heard of it? Okay. Uh, let's do like a one. I've  never heard of it ever before. And then a five is you could do this workshop yourself. Say a quick  quick we got a two, we got a three, a few twos, a lot of peace signs. Pretty cool. Um, so for anyone  who's not familiar, Cello is an Ethereum L2 built for real world use cases. As of this Monday, we  are officially the top L2 in terms of daily active addresses. So we recently hit an all-time high of  uh 750,000 daily active users and addresses on the

network. So, RL2 has been growing consistently in  terms of real world adoption and users. So, you might be wondering what is actually prompting this  growth? Where are all these users coming from? And the answer is mini apps on our ecosystem. A lot  of our mini apps are on mini. Mini is a stablecoin wallet with a built-in miniapp discovery page and  it's integrated directly within the Opera mini browser. So, if anyone's unfamiliar with Opera  and this browser, it is actually one of the most popular browsers in Africa because it offers a  little bit of free data. And if you open up that Opera mini browser on an Android device, you'll  see a button that says Mini Pay on it where you can send stable coins to contacts. So, it is right  now has 11 million daily active users. And on this

actual wallet, there is a miniapp discovery page.  And those mini apps see around a quarter million daily transactions and some of the most popular  ones. So this is a huge opportunity to get real world distribution to your applications uh to the  things that you're building and get your app in the hands of users who want to hold stable coins.  But this is not the only place that many apps can run in the Cello ecosystem. Many apps on Cello  can run both inside of Farcaster and on Minipay. I know there was a lot of conversations earlier  today about Farcaster, so I won't dive in too deep on what exactly that means, but you can have the  same link to your mobile responsive app and with just the change of your WagMe hook to configure  your wallet connect, that same exact app can work

within Farcaster and that same app can work within  Mini Pay. So from a technical difference, very little technical difference. Uh from an actual app  building, it there is a bit of different audiences between the two, but they both function in both  ecosystems and platforms. A little bit about why Cello, why are the opportunities on Cello  for you to build a mini app? The first one for sure is real world reach. When you're building  on Cello, you are building as part through the mini pay ecosystem and you get native integrations  with Opera Mini and this is one of the best ways to get your h app in the hands of millions around  the world. The other thing is it's very cheap and fast gas transactions on Cello cost less than  a cent. It's one of the cheapest gases of all

layer 2. They settle quickly in less than a second  and you can pay gas in stable coins like CUSD. This is great on the mini pay wallet since  a lot of our users who are using that wallet only have stables. They don't hold cello. They  don't hold ETH. They don't hold other kinds of gas currencies. So when they only hold stables,  being able to transact and pay for your gas in stables is crucial here. And an easy upgrade path.  Farcaster mini apps can run in mini with minimal code changes. So you can build one app and serve  two growing ecosystems. And the last part that I'm super proud of is we have a whole wide range of  builder support programs. So you can earn rewards, you can earn grants and funding at every stage. If  you're a new builder, we have programs for you all

the way to uh milestone grants and even investment  funds. And I'll get into that as well later. Um, let's jump into the code and actually how  you can start setting up your application. So, I'll be showing you and walking you step by step  to how you can build an app with Cello Composer. I know we're here at a middleg guild event and  there's been lots of tutorials on building with Scaffold. Cello Composer is a fork of Scaffold.  It's pretty much the exact same thing but with specific templates that you can do. So you can  also follow along uh with what I'll be doing by scanning this QR code to get all of the  prompts. So with that, here is where you can scan along as well. Um and then yeah so first  step will be actually opening up a terminal

and then let me make this really big for  everyone and then forecaster mini app. So what this will be doing is it will start  creating actual cello composer and you can name it and it gives you options for a  bunch of different templates you want. So again this is a fork scaffold with  specific templates for things that you could build in the cello ecosystem. So we have  the basic template. We have a forecaster mini app template that I'll be using. Uh you can  pick hard foundry or hard hat. Let's do this. And then all of these descriptions here, it says  mini app display name, mini app description, miniapp tags. This is all powering your  manifest file for when you're deploying into Farcaster. You're already populating it  all directly within the CLI, directly within

the terminal. And so this creates you a quick  lightweight app all of a sudden that you can directly paste that straight into Farcaster and  you'll have the whole manifest file pretty much made for you minus the account association. But  I'll show you how you can do that as well. So let's wait a little bit for it to install and  then I'm just going to open up that actually. Oh, let me go here.

Okay, let's see. It's no longer on my computer, so we'll  have to do it from there. There we go. Um, and then terminal. So, right away, it has an  actual app that it loads automatically. And I'll show you a little bit of what that actual app  looks like. This app already is connected to the Farcaster wallet, has that WagMe hook config  here. It has a few of the embedded features um right away like the add mini app functionality  where you can click this and it adds a mini app into your saved mini apps on Farcaster. And  then you have a few bit of functions right there as well. And so it gives you a really quick  lightweight version to get started. Um going to do

a simple thing where I just going to will create  this front end for now. I'm just going to vibe code it. One shot. Let's see if this does this  works. I've never done vibe coding straight on a workshop like this. So we'll see. Hopefully this  prompt prompt actually works. And I'm essentially just prompting it to change the front end. And I'm  asking it specifically to use some WagMe hooks to do a simple transaction. But as I mentioned, this  is a full monor repo similar to the same scaffold uh architecture style. So you have your contracts  here. You have all your application and front end here. And it would be really easy to write your  own contract and deploy that as well as part of this whole UI. And we'll wait a little bit  for that to load as well. Um I don't know.

The other thing that it comes with is we have this  custom cello branding UX that you can prompt that you can paste when you are vibe coding. And so  this gives you a quick way to make your whole app look a little bit more aligned with the Cello  ecosystem and add in some UI that is similar and uh looks looks a bit cohesive to the actual Cello  Cello ecosystem. And we'll wait for these to load. And if you want to follow along again, I have  the exact prompt that I pasted, the UI prompts,

and I'll also get into how you can actually host  your app in a second. So, let's wait for those. Um, in the meantime, wanted to share a little bit  about some other aspects on Cello and apart from minipay and where a lot of these transactions and  users are live and coming from. Cello is also home to over 16 local stable coins. So, we partner with  Mento Labs who creates stable coins for a bunch of countries, specifically all the G7 currencies as  well as a lot of areas in the global south. So we have a local Colombian stable coin, Brazilian  stable coin, uh a lot of countries in Africa, we have stable coins there. So CO is really the  home of stable coins and it's a great opportunity to do payments and localized payments with  a ton of on and off ramps in local areas.

Additionally, this year, Cello launched self. Self  protocol is a privacy preserving proof of humanity protocol where you can take a picture of your p  take your passport or a biometric ID and generates automatically a ZK proof that you can use within  different apps. They recently partnered with a with Morpho with Google Cloud so that you can  prove your humanity and unlock new DeFi rewards, unlock different things proving that you're  human. So, this is another way that Cello's doubling down on its commitment to build for real  world users and DeFi for the people. And finally, this is one of my favorite things about Cello that  I think people don't actually know about, but 20% of every transaction fee is allocated to a carbon  offset fund to further climate impact. Fun fact,

Cello originally started as a proof ofstake chain  when Ethereum was still proof of work and it's always been very committed to climate impact and  it's actually embedded into the economic activity of CO's blockchain a lot of carbon offsets and  this is run by a DAO. You can be part of it. You can communicate where you want to see this money  going and how you want it to help the climate. All right, let's go back to this prompt. see  how it's working and if it's running well. All right. So, we have this send a tip.  It's connected to my wallet and then you can send it to a recipient and it's actually  processing something on chain uh connected to my CUSD. Um I'm also going to test it out.  We're adding this Cello branding prompt.

And this is just a simple there's two ways you  can use a design system when you're vibe coding to update your design system what you want  it to look like. The other super easy way is to use a prompt. the this prompt u has all of  the colors of cellos a little bit of our brand identity embedded into it and it gives you  uh it's a little different every time because you're vibe coding and pasting that prompt in  but it's a quick way to just change up your UI so that it doesn't look like a vibecoded app  and adds some unique elements embedded and it's really cute because a lot of apps within  the cello ecosystem within Farcaster have a similar UI look and feel to it which makes  it feel part of a cohesive eosystem system.

Okay, we're going to play around a little bit  since um some of the Vive Code stuff takes a bit to load, but wanted to share as we wait about some  of the grant programs active on Cello. Right now, Cello has over $2 million in grant programs  for builders that anyone can get involved in, no matter what state you're in. If you want to  see all of the grant programs, go check it out at copg.eco/programs. All of our programs are  run by the community. So, governance community members will actually go to governance, ask for a  budget to run their own grant programs. And some of the big ones that we have right now, our cello  builders fund where we invest in your project. Uh, miniapp Mondays, which every Monday we are sp  we're sponsoring user incentives for a mini app

on Farcaster. We're driving users. We're promoting  it on both Cello's channels, personal channels, on Twitter channels as well. And we you're part  of an airdrop campaign, meaning at the end of the season, we'll be airdropping to everybody who has  interacted or does something on your app. Uh we've seen some apps get thousands of users on day one  of launching on MiniApp Monday. So, if you want to be part of that campaign, it's a great way to  get quick users, quick user growth on your mini apps. All right, that is still loading. Uh, and  we'll see what that UI looks like in a minute. One of the things that I love to talk about  specifically with builders is after you launch your mini app, what next? How do you actually  grow user adoption? How do you get out of just

having a few beta testers to actually scaling,  creating revenue, having that product go out into the market? This is specifically where I think the  Cello ecosystem can help you and help you succeed. One of the best ways is to leverage Cello's native  distribution channels. Again, this is through mini where you can get access to over 11 million plus  users. As you can see, we have mini apps here and uh we promote different mini apps and campaigns  that we're running together with them. We run a bunch of campaigns closely with the Opera  team and with Tether doing some USDT buyback campaigns as well. And this is a great way to  tap into these native distribution channels.

When you're building for the different audiences  on Cello, whether that's through mini and farer, it's really important to think about who your user  is and why they would be using your app. On mini, these users are primarily in the global  south. They are on this app because they really value holding dollars. So apps  that do a unique thing with dollars, whether that's a game and you can earn, whether  that's localized payments, whether that's savings, whether that's DeFi, something specifically  around stable coins do really, really well in the Cello ecosystem. And people also love games.  Our top apps right now are a learn to earn game, um, some daily claim rewards, and recently  Kickstarter launched a mini app on mini called

Minunderer. And that's another app that's growing  a ton and doing super well as well. Farcaster has a ton of early crypto adopters. We really suggest  to a lot of our builders in our ecosystem to start off creating an app with Farcaster first. When  you create an app with Farcaster, you can get instant feedback on how that's going, how that's  working, um, what is resonating with your users that are already familiar, so you don't have run  into a lot of the same UI and pain points that maybe non-cryptonative users would bump into. And  what we suggest is to build your app on Farcaster, work hard to get your first aers, and we'll  support you with doing a mini app campaign, helping with some user incentives and awareness.  And from there, that's when you can have conversations with the mini pay team about how  you can take your app and scale that to millions.

A little bit more specifics into the programs  to help you grow. Uh again, with MiniApp Monday, we are highlighting these apps on Farcaster.  We're sponsoring user incentive awards and we'll do co-arketing on all of our socials and help you  get ensure that you get your first 1,000 users by launch. We also sponsor support streams that  you can use as incentive budgets within your app. We have growth grants. These are milestone  grants up to $50,000 for when you hit certain milestones like deploying on chain. And we have  a builder fund. These are strategic investments and ecosystem support targeted towards mini apps.  So right now a lot of VCs aren't aren't focused on the miniapp and application layer, but the  cello builder fund specifically is. And finally, next season, this is a bit of alpha if you're here  in person because we haven't publicized this too.

We'll be doing a bit more token launch support and  working closely with ecosystem partners to support you as you launch project tokens and bootstrap  liquidity. In addition, one of the things I'm super proud of are the local regional hubs. We  have community members all around the world in every continent and these hubs are hungry to help  test out your apps, hungry to help you grow. We've seen a lot of apps within our ecosystem talk to  these communities using them for user testing, using them for marketing, using them for growth,  and these builder communities will be the first to get your app, be the ones to test it, give you  feedback, and spread them to others in the local community. So whenever you're building, build in  public. Don't build in silos. Build alongside an

ecosystem. And Cello can help you do that. All  right, moment of truth. Uh we're running some of these CD commands. It's still loading. So taking a  bit there. Um but as we wait, wanted to just talk about a little recap and next steps. So for all of  you, if you are in this room, I am assuming that you are currently working on building a mini app.  I believe the next session is an open playbook for creating your mini apps and building on chain.  If you are building a mini app and you do a transaction on Cello, you are eligible for those  2 million dollars that are going to builders like yourself. And the way that you can get involved  is to join a Cello builder program. Here again is the link to all of our builder programs. Make  sure that you join one. Um, one of the ones if

you're a new builder, I would suggest you join a  proof of ship. That's one specifically targeted to new builders, people who are new to the Cello  ecosystem to help get you involved in the program. My next suggestion is to build a Farcaster miniapp  MVP. This is the best way to start building in public and get users, get awareness, build up  your own brand and your app's brand. And if you're building a mini app, feel free to just DM it and  send it to me directly. My username is Sophia on Farcaster. I would love to check out your mini  apps, test them, and figure out how we can get you involved in the community. And the final one  is to deploy on mini. This is the way that you can actually start a company, get users, get paying  users, figuring out how to monetize off of fee

revenue, um, off of user acquisition. And that's  how we can create a long lasting sustainable mini app ecosystem where apps are generating revenue  and creating more apps, creating more use cases and growing the economic activity on chain. All  right, see moment of truth. This has not loaded yet. It's okay. this you can follow along on your  own if you're vibe coding and paste in the exact same prompts and you'll see what that app looks  like uh as well since this code is still still running. But that is all for today. Um my name  is Sophia. You can follow me on Farcaster Sophia or on Twitter sedi and I would love to help  you out. I would love to test out your app,

give you some feedback, and talk to you about  what are the best ways that you can earn rewards and earn some funding and grow within the Cello  ecosystem. So, thank you so much for having me.
