please give it up for Mii Alis yeah Mii nice thank you thank you good evening nice good evening everyone um first of all I would like again to extend uh my deepest gratitude to Mr hin tler uh to Andre Vicki and uh Guido bueron and bat pakman and well maer and everyone that contributed towards making what it is today crypto valant for

welcoming us with such open arms and I would like before we begin to give them another round of applause thank you and uh just one more thing before we begin I would like to see a show of hands uh how many of you have heard of ethereum yeah okay wow for Full House uh so uh here we go uh I prepared the a small presentation I'm not sure should we see it y so the title is crypto Valley Origins and the ethereum beginnings and uh our Story begins on 27 January 2014 on a flight from Barcelona uh in the meantime we were already kind

of disc discussing exploring various jurisdictions for finding a home for ethereum and it was during this flight that Lorenzo puso a great guy a great friend asked me this question what does the best case scenario look like if we actually make it work here and that forced me to articulate the idea of crypto valy as this ecosystem that we grow because ethereum would be a platform on top of which many projects and many uh companies can be built and uh this is uh you know like another word for e1's home and this brought us to to T and you know I'm not sure if it's Destiny or coincidence or coincidence or destiny but what were the odds of coming to the

place where it has a university named eth and also the the drink made in so to be called eer I'm not sure pretty slim right I mean just saying and uh This Is Us arriving on the Chri report uh you know uh and uh this is also just to show that we tackle this with a smile on our face you know we're going here a bit of a shot in the dark but we'll see what and you know in the airport again it was a sign algra benen benu welcome gry so uh we arrived here and uh also you know no way back no transfer we'll

get back to that so uh here we we were in all and uh this also uh along the way okay let's see can we find a place for ethereum uh what would the offices be and here you can see her you can hear Herbert making a joke in a minute I will let you hear it hey you can sleep over there sleeping back who has the last laugh uh you know has the bigger laugh because I'm not sure but I think in about two weeks from this video we actually crashed I I I think like 12 or 15 people into Herbert's to bed apartment in uh in lern

it was fun but I'm not sure if it you know you guys can sleep there not in my apartment I guess he was very welcoming and a nice guy and like again speaking to the welcoming attitude and Forward Thinking of the authorities uh after landing on the 267th of January 2014 without knowing any anyone or anything about Switzerland in less than a month on the 24th February 2014 we incorporated it Switzerland gmbh you know we covered a bit earlier we started with the gmbh 20,000 was a lot to pull together back then later on we had enough to do a foundation and also a clearer idea thanks to mme on how we can do it so no one gets in trouble uh it

worked uh you know it was always a tough thing yeah [Applause] and this is what has been uh now in the lore as the etherum spaceship it does look a bit like a spaceship and uh this is inside the the house where we had like a big whiteboard and this is Lorenzo the guy that I mentioned on the flight also the one that recorded you know us on the that staircase and just to give you a feel you know we were working together we had like all of these things uh on the Whiteboard uh how also like Switzerland Canada and a bunch of other other jurisdictions can work together uh and when the white boards

were not enough we also went on the windows I think some of the scribers there are Charles uh yeah he was the window guy the windows guy but not the operating system and uh here we have the official notarization ethereum Foundation 9th July 2014 history in the making sign it make ITT somewhere the museum don't put it on YouTube don't put it on YouTube we'll make our own YouTube still working on I didn't see it the

decentralized YouTube but I hope it's coming maybe in the next celebration we'll have we'll have it up and running and this is a screenshot 5 minutes after the ethereum crowd sale started you know it was a bit of a a question also for us at times he was like man maybe we are in a bubble I mean it sounds very cool right we're leaving breeding uh ethereum all day long but uh are we in the Echo chamber I don't know we're going to see so after 5 minutes like man maybe we were crazy we are in a bubble but it turned out that we were either not in a bubble or not the only Crazy Ones because it was the number one uh 42 day uh days uh uh project that raised the highest amount in the history of the internet until that point and uh this is

me smiling you can see we had money to pay salaries yes and this is in front of the beautiful Lake of tug under what we call the ethereum tree and uh this is a Blog on September uh 2nd after we had this uh crowd fund uh crowd sale uh you know it was uh successful and in here I you know the last sentence and you know thinking again B coin for allowing this to to manifest and I uh said the unfetter peer-to-peer worldwide digital Finance grid is building itself out you make this possible back then we didn't had Defi and all of this stuff but it is describing what is happening I think we are leaving this crypto Renaissance and

to put it into a different perspective I think the crowdfunding campaign is this bullet it's going through but like what's actually the biggest impact is what follows and this is what we're living now I feel and uh to to put it into perspective uh I will take just one single lens looking a bit flattening the the entire thing but we will look at stable coins and defi now we have a name for it and this is uh for example the uh onchain volume of stable coins and just the USD there are let's say also Euro stable coins GBP and others but USD is the biggest one and zooming in a bit in the last uh year we have like this you know spikes and and you know when I took

the screenshot I was like damn on the left those are th trillions you know so you see these spikes here and there jumping over one trillion and then I went on this Visa Visa wow on chain analytics it's happening uh and we see that just in the last 30 days we had over a m a trillion and a half of dollars that were settled using the uh ethereum infrastructure but that's not all if we look zooming out a bit again over 20 trillion dollars were settled in the last 12 months so that's epic and that has at its core this Swiss DNA baked in it because we were able to set up the legal entity here that allowed us

to focus on the technology while being less worried that we'll get into trouble for doing this technology so again thank you and this is just another look at ethereum and again like it's one dimension uh we are focusing on on the technology and here we see the GitHub contribution to ethereum the protocol and again like this is just one dimension the development that went into this protocol there are many events each contributing in a way to the growth and the evolution of this organism it's an organism we are part of it and we are

making it grow events like meetups conferences like this and and every single project that builds on top extends it makes it better somehow it evolves so I just wanted to share this with you uh to give you another perspective on it again we are part of this we are one note this event happening and uh continuing on that note crypto Valley as a meme you know it's a meme uh on the flight from Barcelona before we arrived was thought us how can I communicate this and make the authorities understand that this is an opportunity this is something that should be look that with curiosity and understanding that something good can come out of it and that's like the crypto Value Vision that was communicated to the Local Economic

Development team of TR and they really got it and that's rare you know they got it but what really blew me away was years later well mler evolving it so he said something along the lines like crypto value is a great example for Switzerland but it should not be limited to T Switzerland should become crypto Nation so it evolved and we are seeing today that Evolution happening life we are leing it the crypto Renaissance it's unfolding at full speed and this is Herbert Herbert steri The Legend can I get a round of applause for him also thank you he really made the connections and facilitated all of this introduced us also to mme and like I don't know if we

would have had the same success without him and here is him saying it you know no man no please is the new this is the new world guys yeah some people get it like Herbert steri well M and others he got it you know it this is the new world and what this new world is I'm not sure is it going to be crypto world or what the next 10 years are going to bring us I'm just as curious as you are I have High Hopes I don't know exactly what will happen but I'm excited to live through these days it's maybe one of the best ways or let's say we are living and lucky to be living these days because it's are among the most EXC exting times big problems but also big technologies that can be used as solutions to these

big problems and just to leave you maybe with a thought and also setting up the stage for viik you know this is vitalik working on water if you saw it it happened it's a picture but like the thing that I want to leave you with I'm not sure what this crypto world is going to look like or what it's going to be but my hope is that just as it uh the T-shirt says it's going to be a world in which we declare variables not poor thank [Applause] you yeah Mi High take it in taking the love thank

[Applause] care what I love about this man that seems to never go is undying passion you're almost as enthusiastic about today as you're about tomorrow as you were about telling the story from yesterday but for this moment being here and you're local here right you live yeah living and loving living and loving so what does it feel to have the city here to have some of your co-founders here I can say only that I'm in awe and I feel very grateful and honored to be here on this stage and uh I'm I'm beyond surprise so to say that uh this thing is happening which surpasses my wildest

expectations or dreams and don't get me wrong I tend to dream big but this is bigger than my biggest dream that's amazing ladies and gentlemen be high thank you [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music]
