good morning guys i'm starting uh talk about ens so if this is you are here to listen to my talk about enos i'm coming okay yeah i'm so sorry i can't really i'd like to see people have a conversation the light is quite yeah bright but i was just start okay so uh yeah so my name is uh in this ethereum world uh probably you know me as zx583a4227b625fa093dec [Music] and they probably you have something like that with your same address but uh that's basically it's too difficult to

uh remember and tell to your friends so i do have a this kind of ethereum native name called motokudo is and hopefully you know as i just asked how many people have ems name people do know ens so today i i think i want to kind of focus on one aspect which we didn't really see as a native feature but like if people kind of started evolving the usage of the ens and this is the kind of latest thing people started using as a website username so i want to focus that aspect of ens usage today and so yeah first i kind of explained how the transition happened and now

we're gonna explain a bit more about how how we wanna push this forward okay so from domain to web three username uh i'm kinda like if you are in this space for a couple of years you are almost og and i'm in this space for about five years which definitely makes one dlgs and this slide is one of the past meetup i attended in london 2016 in june and that's where i met nick johnson who is a creator of ens and he was kind of showing very scruffy presentation of cam explaining what they see of name

services and at that time i think at that time he just joined ethereum foundation guest team and but before that he had a brief moment he was working in the swamp file system so swami's like ibfs but it's more kind of native to ethereum and for most of the kind of power system uh he had a yeah at that time ethereum was known as a kind of world computer so where solidity ethereum works as kind of cpu and we had other two components called whispers the messaging system and swarm as a file management system and as you can see on the browser you see swamp gateway net and to

type your basically the content identifier it was very difficult so that's where he got the idea from and now we still have that feature that like for example we now support ibm fs1 and some we did the uh integration for ipfs one but i think here here the rv uh community just raise the pull request and we do now support their content hash and also uh if you have metamask or i think opera you can solve this uh content hash of the uh decentralized web but main usage is study as basically how to resolve usm

address so if you have used how many people have never used metamask one two okay so yeah i think uh yeah if you haven't used metamask maybe you might be new but like so this is a metamask also called chrome extension and from the uh extension if you usually you might cop if you understand these uh eso erc20 tokens you copy and paste uh the long hexadecimal which i showed in the very beginning but now you can type for example vitalik.is and as you type so one i think one misconception could be that okay are you sending to the name itself uh

technically no like when you type metallic dot is each dapps or wallet which integrates with cns basically looking up our smart contract and retrieve the same address so by the time you actually send it it's already converted to a cm address and it sent to the address directly so this is kind of primary primary usage of the ens but we kind of have one pitch and then we got the lots of ens stands for ens which very similar to like a dns in a domain name system which you exist in the internet world so we heavily borrow the idea from the dns but one thing

it doesn't exist on dns but unique to ens this kind of what we use for reverse record but no one understood it so we just rebranded the primary ens name so that if you register uins name and if you go to our ens manager you can basically select your primary ens name and attached to your ethereum address and what it allows is that most of the dapps like for example unit swap when you log in to transaction transact with ethereum like in the same transaction with ceo balance you have to connect your wallet into the

dapps and by doing that if you have a primary name set you can ask ens that like you what's his identity user ens name is so by collecting it uh you can see your name who knew this feature raise hands who has okay one okay only two people okay so you did you didn't know okay yeah so a five yeah thank you very much yeah so because this doesn't uh set dire uh automatically upon your registration it's less known thing but like if you it's very handy like you know most of

the people have do you who has more than one ethereum address yeah yeah so you kind of have multiple identities and you might want to store one dress for one particular purpose and they're not mixed with your crib pumps or something or like you're a dehydrator right so you kind of slip it out so it's very handy way to easily recognize which wallet i'm even connecting to but this is half of the story that now like for example openc openc have its own username but also it connects with sorry let me just drink water like any other dab they also know which

ethereum address you are connected to not only which address you connect you are connected to but which address this each artist is connected to so in this case uh people pleaser is very known uh kind of nft meme generator that like she's known for creating a very famous nfdr for the uni swap and if you go to how open she pays yes she has people pleaser as a their own unique user id but you can also see uh people please do is which is her primary ens name and then it's it becomes even more interesting that if you go to esa scan now you can see everybody's transaction

with their primary ens name so this is the transaction uh address of a please which just download happening like this year that when people please uh start uh creating the ads for v3 and that she made they made it tie into the nft and they did it at nft as an auction a charity auction then i think the auction price went to the loop then suddenly oh yeah i think you are yeah so pull together ceo uh said yeah i can't i'm i'm not afford to buy it by myself let's formula dial so that's the dial form and you can actually see

everybody who's doing what in isa scam uh we sell like you know going to their own like you don't have to go to people please app you just go find that it's a scam so in this case uh james the east is doing something and also andy a05 to east so all these transactions now you can see in each scam so yeah implies that like in in aerial webster username if i this is my facebook id my quote in nowhere twitter is my photo underscore in a way and yeah github is my photo github is the only name i was able to grab my first name but others i was a bit late to the game so i can't get

anything so every uh social network i have different name whereas if you go to openc you need swap like snapshot is a scan it's all mateokun.es you might go together like an ft platform like you know uh openc or what was it uh try showtime they have their own username but again they do the integration with cns so that you can identify that i think you can even start with their ens name which is very uh great that like this is kind of cross marketplace user identity so that's and the power is not just all the five uh platform but now we have over 300 adapts

uh wallet and exchanges integrated so the power is everywhere where ecm is and then we also recognize that this way of like basically connecting wallet to uh that is i think for example snapshot you don't necessarily have to pay a gas to send transactions it's just like signing message right so once saying people started kind of organically start using is using ecm key key pair as your identity and you can use it to log in which means you don't necessarily have to interact smart contract to connect let user to connect you your uh your app so we also uh

recognize that like so we about two three months ago uh after vitalik made a talk in ecc about this this kind of kind of critical neutral way of using ecm address as a login mechanism rather than relying on like big players like a google twitter this could be the kind of yeah two ways to not just web 3 world but also web 2 or can use this sign-in mechanism so we created a request for proposal and we got lots of uh application and we now work with a company called sprouse and we have a joint uh yeah initiative with ef and the ens to make this as a eip so once you do that not just web three companies but

with two companies can start have this aspect and once they start using that uh signee with ethereum ens comes with it which is going to be the very powerful thing and the second thing i want to push is uh yeah another example is that so this is twitter avatar twitter currently has nothing to do with uh ethereum sorry ethereum but people started using edh as their kind of profile name and this kind of study again organically i think nick johnson said claims he started this uh this trend and the vitalik started and the people firing up and this is a screenshot of the

i think 2090 when people still used to put their own photo so i can see eric connor or like you know alex van sam answering real quarter in there right but now it's like 2021 like who puts unfd into twitter profile yeah okay so no one knows who you are when you basically talk so you might want to put like your own photo just to say hey this is actually me you know so this is kind of taking on fire and i i know that like now uh twitter is experimenting with idea of like you know picking nft and soda to use as a profile photo and they put

like ecm's logo or something they're experimenting with it and we first noticed this symptom when uh zappa enabled the feature to be able to pick unft from your wallet and set it and this is great and i actually already said it but again that this profile information you have it's it's only integrated with uh zapper so this information is not available but we do have a feature uh i'll show this one first but this is the only technical bit about my talk the ens registry is a gigantic phone book all it does is just you you have your name and you have your phone number which is a crm address but one unique thing is this

rather than so we call ens registry smart contract rather than registry smart contract hosts or uicm address it actually has a point that another smart controller called resolver which is kinda upgradable based on your name so if we create with a new feature you change the resolver smart contract of the url name so you can do the upgrade we sell uh us doing upgrade and as time progress i think our primary usage is to store exam address or content hash but there's a we extend it in a way that you can put multi coin address like bitcoin or like dodge coin i think there's going to be support

but we also have one thing called text record where you can put arbitrary key and value store and so what we did is we create a specification that like which you know you can you should be able to store various avatar including nfd information so what we did is okay this is a version of a uh ens manager where you can kind of manage your record and you can see in the text record field i put my three com the twitter is as makoto in nowhere github as a makoto and in avatar field you can see my avatar image and this is a format it's like a eip 155 and you put chain id nft type either 721 or

1155 then you put the collection collection enft is often the smart quantize which manages all the nfd so you put that address and if you put tokyo id it basically has all the information to express the uh that this is nft by doing that uh in the front end i can actually check like whether this person owns this nft so if you own the nfd we can even put this owner symbol and this is still like this kind of text record table is more still a bit geeky and again this is model app around the design when we you used to three ens as almost like a

domain name domain manager if you go to like a godaddy or something and if you try to change dns text recall or something it's kind of this thing we're trying to work on more kind of social social friendly design like this but the idea is like we are kind of protocol which anyone can use so already if maybe some some of you might have noticed that if you go to open c and if this is my you know oh by the way how many people know that ens is actually nft good okay yeah so now if you put your avatar record you can actually see your avatar image as part of your nft's asset and we all even put our ems name

so this is already integrated and also uh there's a sub party called davata helpers and they create a very easy to kind of drop in uh support for enabling these advertising so one inch and a uni swap already integrated so you can kind of start seeing your avatar straight and uh yeah so this is a case of like you know twitter doing their own effort but like another thing is twitter is not quite open so what they do here is not accessible to you as adapt developer or the user whereas we have over 300 apps integrated and with this sign in which is serum it's going to

explain the usage of the uh basically ens as a universal username profile name manager and currently yeah these are the older people who already said we only so text record itself existed since 2017 when it launched but it was one of the unused uh feature and we kind of specked out and we started talking about yeah this does exist last week and we already have about over 2000 people say avatars most people still put like image url or ipfs hash point but there's over 100 people already set and if the avatar said so you can

basically in profile photo on twitter or social media it's great that you can see your chum punk but also at the same time it kind of lost your own kind of unique uniqueness right but this is kind of way that you can kind of your name your precious pfp so this is yeah so if you one thing you want to learn the takeaway from this talk which i'm ending now is that yeah you can name your nft and you can put a bfb record and this hopefully this can yeah drive uh make ens more usable to you guys and then that's about it and so we are working on lots of diff uh different

things we just had a ens so-called workshop where we talked about latest features and one thing i didn't mention is like a currently nft ens as nfd is limited to uh eth name but we are going to upgrade that feature as well so that like if you are the adapt developer one usage we want to promote is like a that can have your issue sub domains and that can also become nft natively that kind of upgrade we are also working on and all these things we talked uh we just put in a youtube video so if you want to find out more uh yeah check this email check check this youtube video and

i didn't talk anything technical today and some of you may be doing the hacking over weekend if you want to do take advantage of these features i'll be around for entire this week so please come say hi and talk to me and well you know just show off your your kid in ft and they'll be impressed yeah thank you [Applause]
