all right good afternoon everybody oh sorry for the delay I'm all shook I did you from Nigeria we are we talking about leverage in the African population to grow the atrium Development developed by ecosystem I would do a little bit of background so da budem Borisov with a lot of slides so after defconn five knocked over or Joe shared a tweet I saw talking about when we don't develop pathway to Rome in 2020 and going through the comments I saw a lot of negativity and all more like reading through the comments those Donna media okay we have Laura curium population in Nigeria in Africa the

number of developers we are not so much and we are very scanty community too so I'm Eric comments the we can leverage the population and intellect of Africa for to grow this normal under the guys over at edge from the network they reached out are like geographer Boozer and like okay we can't computer Busan we did and right there under we came up with a pilot program this is for this Ida squad are the development community in Africa is actually growing by the t-bo a number of them are web sue guys so the target is bring those we have two guys in to f3 so we came up with okay the media challenges in Africa that we

discovered is we have so many many solutions that needs to go to Africa or blockchain needs to help a lot of things are so many solutions for blockchain in Africa so many problems in the government system the politics the privates businesses and our daily living bore we don't have people to make this work we have very limited developers to do this and in a population of 1.3 billion and we have less than 1000 mm blockchain developers I don't see how they are going to walk so that is why we decided to Judas so we add in October start discussing with the edge from the network guys we came up with a pilot program where the Oh Amy's of 500

blockchain developers for it Tyrael and so they actually very good experience we had two hundred and twenty seven persons registered half of them were developers half of them when I developer so bringing this truth together to the training we had the most training I think our fests mentor that Valen said was Philippi it did actually a good job at the time and we are for developers outside Nigeria we had four developers within Nigeria so it was a very good remote class at the end of the day when we started the classes we discovered that those guys that were not

develop us a number of them could not follow through really will finish blockchain fundamentals then we start diving into the course a number of them actually fell off then the rest guys dust tit and the program couldn't finish because of factors like Internet's and quite a number of factors so weight which was somewhat you of them passed through out of this seventy twenty four of them joined the last phase of the program to do the assignments the assignments we did there was out he broke them into groups for them to have a certificates done do all idle certificate up disease in Africa that is this so much value placed on

certifications so you are trend so the idea is viewed the table the duck would be issued for the guys that were trained on the Pyro's program then we'll use the same certificate to issue for guys that are on on the new phase of the program then discussing with the woman on deaf guys like okay we have have so many people training within the 1 million deaf shelf life so we are going to issue the same certificate for whoever is interested to do this so that was a task under I determined the certificate is going true good review team finish the last week so want to see which of them actually did we're good each of them will use that to join the DA so after the pilot program

would have this discovery with the SCADA we can do better on this program if we change the registration mode now we understand that for the online classes the non devs didn't do well so to register and drain this face you must be a developer no matter CSS HTML Javascript but we placed some emphasis on some key codes so that I can have them move after being trained can move forward and pass upon selection curriculum redesign the curriculum we had before was focused on merging both the front end and the back end together under 16 weeks so it was our idea no video we discovered that we had more

back-end guys down from 10 guys so now we are separating the two they're going to be having guys are going to be doing whole front end ten guys are gonna be doing call back end for 16 weeks so at the end of the time we can actually review ambush okay in the stem will have trained X number of front end guys X number of back-end guys then we discovered our from talks within the mentors within the program and discussing with Simona we discovered how we need to add bounty to tasks but I have to finishing some tax you have X amount of reward to propel you to do better so that was that's part of team resetting then mentor selection out of

the eight mentors we add a number of them in to so because of quite number of factors so we are extending a mentor selection on this time around we are opened up for each module one to have two mentors so that if one person is taking this class today and based on time zones if considering that all of them may not be Nigeria may have some of them outside Nigeria so want to have two persons who this particular module can have it's probably dealt with so we walk on mental selection and test an assignment we have each module then this timer I want to be sure if you didn't finish the assignment on mood one we'll give you some moment of race to

finish up and raining now that you did finish this one out rain doesn't want to be sure for each module you have exhausted is you have lent enough to be able to move you to the next phase then this time are we up on the first phase we didn't have so much off because of the time involved we couldn't come up with good number of team members to help so this time we have product manager join on so that we can to just manage our blockchain engineers joined the team to be sure that we have good eyes working together to make sure that we do a thorough job in building this number of developers then at the end of what we have planned for this is Emily we start

a class we want to we already discussed an hour to be shut up if we have as of today we are going on 27 people on the online registration and the idea is who break them into groups and adi from the beginner class one will show at the end of the program each team should be able to build this this is so all tasks and assignment for each group will factored in the word - during idea so at the end of 16 weeks 112 if we have ten groups trying to draw out twenty stove's been designers okay and these designs are going to be what can with your local environment you all idea of

doing this is the number of products we have injector on ecosystem may not work well we I stay Nigeria but as a Nigerian I can tell okay this will work in my own environment I was customer somebody we have 54 countries in Africa and each country of what is peculiar to them even in Nigeria alone we have six do political zones each zone avoids populist them so if I Stanley goes for instance our most likely be developing something that works well and Legos so that's the old idea what we are trying to do then propose Africa region so we discovered our what we did in the first place in the first pilot program was actually for up for Nigerians

but during the time we have we had so much interests from other part of Africa presently now we've had we have seven persons who are register from Kenya does in East Africa then why discussion with our partners we had local partners blockchain cryptographic development initiative and in Nigeria and we are crib it's all those guys did a lot of work with the websites we have I know while we're doing this we are interest from other part of Africa so we collaborated with a team in Kenya the own collaboration is up what we are doing in Nigeria they are looking to replicates in East Africa so we are going to be what we do have to have another effort building so why not partner to get as Makeda we have done

this Nigeria and is working well we move the same thing so done okay so these are targets for Africa and we show we can do this and do more I would like to talk about one of the things we discovered during the pilot phases that a number of guys are not able to learn remotely because of several factors so we came up with the on-site training program and we can't just walk to Oregon or to say what so we were able to for now as off while I left Nigeria we have three universities who are willing to partner with us dual idea is that we are going to those universities they provide the

facilities we provide the facilitators so we train within the school the whole idea is if you want to achieve blockchain adoption in Nigeria it is a forced to say okay we have trained X number of guys in this University then look within the University come up with the solution now is as as soon as the solution starts gaining awareness within the school is a force same solution to transmit into the local community of the university so that's part of what we are looking to do so this is where we stop at the moment Sweden I need of more mentors for the program because we are stretching out of or we hard we have it's Madhu's on the front end it moves on the back end and

we need about 16 16 mentors on each so we need more mentors to help activities and on the tests none hood I discovered ah it's easier for somebody else the senior developers to get more bounces from get coin on call before developers are just passing up in on balls them have got getting few bounces but one of the things I seen other community that we'd only have for now is a did network with themselves we have so many projects within the economical system so we need internship for some of these guys it might not be my repeat might not be paid the whole idea is that we have trained them to motivate them better gets them on your team and have them learn more

contributes more then it makes them do more for the community - and tell us something we introduced during the pilot program daily apt you like every personality lineup is stuff I am NOT new India to America system I do I'm still green but a number of guys that came in completely new some of them doesn't even know vipera more at all more having them speak weeds I think we had Tomas Tomas Tomas from his Academy he came to speak with them we are quite a number of guys coming by week to okay talk about their own story how they got into the space what they have done what they are doing and the potentials in the space so I believe is one of the wheels

motivate people thanks to Simona she agreed to do the opening force this time around so I believe talking up Aven I talked about web to web or web to a three story so far stories around how people can move and enemies Pisgah motivates people to actually get serious and on the last point all these things cannot happen without a lot of fun we need this thank you very much question I am how much funds do you need on your daddy okay on rough estimates what we have is between 30 to 40 thousand dollars on your rough estimates to achieve both the online and

the on-site goals are going to be doing more work on the on site effort this time we are opening in Idaho a canal between 10 to 20 universities we have well about seven hours some of the seven universities negra private and public alike thank you do you do you have any insight into what the Nigerian government's response to these developments might be as well as elsewhere in Africa do you think that developers such as yourself will be perceived favorably and if so is there support that the government can provide and if not why not I know it's a lot of questions but okay let's let's break it down like that's one of the problem with Nigerian government and

Gomez and Africa with blockchain is cryptocurrency they don't want to you to come close to it all reception for blockchain is still very very low although the local companies are trying to see how best you can do this book don't cut between the privates guys and the government's leave it with white but I'm sure we are bridging gradually like for the dimension Dementors you mentioned Kahn you like a liberabit much

a bit more like what they did during the program and what like when you fall looking for that you want what should a like able people to provide alright thank you for during the Pylos program which is our case study one of the reason why we did a pilot was forced to better understand what we are doing and to see how we were review better so during the pilot program we had classes mutually at nights GMT +1 between 7 to 9 so the whole idea is three times in a week you come into a live class to talk about your topic but before the class each mentor will have dropped their material I had a flame 12 every word

study and get familiar with it so that is what we did or what we what we are working to do better Niners are all the videos or the materials I'm gonna put it in a Google Drive for each of the classes so we use slack for the other time or a number of them gonna stop somewhere so this time we're gonna be having them organized right I was talking about team formation we have each person each team guys doing this was it's not just me myself Clements and two other guys but now we have a lot of teams to ensure we do this thank you very much okay I was discussing with my friend Clements from

creator I told him this initiative we actually go out of a team at some points for admins the drive is to achieve 1 million dev now a review at one of the Gustav Lindt is the when you take a step from at each individual review of it so at the moment we are working with the moment of freedom vision at the moment at the moment so we are we are we are open to it but we don't want to see by jumping into it until we are sure over we are achieved with this thank you very much another question you

please ask you okay so I want questions so basically we know that there is more and more feature of short Dave's that are doing a lot of stuff like in agencies etc we see that a lot London so why not partnering with them so that you know it is all fair like extending classes for Syrians or any reduction languages and then they can offer you I don't know like facility and unborn more developers rather than working only with universities you can

work with those people I don't know it's just a suggestion all right no problem that will boot out because of that I think it was a question I guess I'm just curious like what are the profiles of the people generally when they come into the program are they familiar with programming or software engineering or systems in general already or is that also part of the curriculum okay let's just use the profile of the guys in the Pyro's program for example I think the face we have now we have guys now actually done a lot of stock war for the final produce we had a number of them were just very

new to run development itself I I think three months six month background in CSS HTML and so far they're able to pass to this face to grew themselves so any more questions please ask that question to oppose get better you to ask alright okay yeah just one question um because you talked a lot

about Nigeria that you do the program in Nigeria um what other countries in Africa you see where the most where is the most talent or where the most profits coming from where the most where the most people are coming from okay from interaction and research Heroku is do not bet I think Jay Z statistic air from tea table okay so this is from grid of 2018 we have Morocco Kenya Egypt South Africa I was looking for the more recent report or this is what I could get out of it

you okay please oh these are say your question please all right thank you like as part of the like that 1 million deaf its Hyrum developers what would you like to eat from turmeric from consensus like Oh show Lubin's like initiative in general like how could they for example help you like accept funds may be but like materials or like whatever is needed for like continuing okay alright oh the Pyro's programa whipped us to thanks to Philippi creates a very strong network

which Thomas from players Academy and they give during the time they give some percentage on guys that are interested in doing one or two from courses from Mozilla so I mean more materials is good about from the curriculum materials within more material so I put a self-study somebody today the under my treats actually posted the material and one of the guys in the pilot phase picked it up and say oh this is a good content there is no way going through university for example the number of holes didn't Lynn using the class content alone there's too many materials on the site I have to pick up on land pick up so we are open to have that the videos the classes from consensus and

the likes of them to help grow on that phone question two well okay so but it was very interesting and thank you very much thank you very much everybody you
