[Music] [Applause] oh sure yeah yeah it's more easy to good morning everyone um my name is Tamara I will moderate today's session and the topic is Da EOS system foring uh Innovation and collaboration we have three amazing panelists you just heard
their names so let's uh jump right to it and could you guys introduce what you do sure hi I'm Christian Gonzalez uh co-founder of Event Horizon uh what we do is we're essentially trying to increase the token participation in Dow essentially nobody votes you know the average participation rate is like 1% and that's both for voters and tokens so what we do is we give retail voters up to like a 20,000x multiple on their voting power as a non-monetary incentive so that people can start showing up and participating in Dallas uh hi I'm vett I'm from co-founder and CEO cure lab so uh we are a team of uh delegates govern atus and
uh bus who uh focuses on like emping DS with the data driven tools and helping Dow Drive uh especially increasing transparency and accountability and uh we work with several DS like uh optimism Trum safe Dow and S hi everyone uh I'm Udi from fracton Ventures and fractum Ventures also record are our organizer of De and dto is I'm also co-founder of fra V so there yeah we are also like actually we are like crypto incubator so that like we have been providing like incubation program as well and also supporting a dow or to write like a propos to like a forum to each of D so they in the da
Tokyo this year like or AB da and D St like allocated like a grants for supporting to this event yeah that is so as you can see today we have several Professionals in theow space uh the person who basically thinks of an Innovative approach to have more votings inside the D treasuries and proposals towards the proposals the person who works with Zone chain data and supports also treasury management and different tools and the person who supports the incubation of the teams and helping them grow so the first question would be uh this is the second year we have in to Tokyo in Japan and I was here last year as an audience and I will remember how
it started but it's been a year what kind of year was it it um I would say there's been a few themes within the Dow ecosystem the past year so the first that I could think of would be Dows are trying to professionalize a lot more I think uh you know a lot often times people say hey defi has been speedrunning you know the history of financial uh excuse me speedrunning Financial history in the same way Dows are seem seem to be speedrunning corporate structuring political philosophy that sort of thing and so we're finding out that you know direct democracy is not actually an ideal we don't want to vote on everything all the time so we're coming up more with committees and oversight
committees and security councils and things like that essentially saying hey you know some centralization isn't that bad when it comes to making decisions uh the key is how do we have checks and balances in that sector so that's something we're trying to figure out now um I would say another theme would be like token decentralization some of you might have paid attention to the uh compound uh uh Affair where there was a sort of a governance attack that took advantage of the fact that no one's really voting right and that's something that we obviously think a lot about but Unis swap thought a lot about that they had retroactive delegation you know you're participating as a delegate you're active you're you're you know uh expressing the why behind your votes but you don't really have that much
delegation because delegation sticky and once you delegate people don't usually red delegate so Unis swap was red delegating some some Authority from the treasury we we've worked on similar proposals um and so you know professionalization been has been a big theme uh token decentralization has has been a big theme as well um grants how do we make the grants that all these Dows send out how do we make them more transparent how do we make it so that they're not just the teams aren't running away with the money how do we make it accountable kpi base uh things like that so um just trying to make Dallas more efficient and more effective I would say broadly speaking has been the overarching theme in the last year yeah so actually for the past year
I think uh a lot of stuff happening in the down space uh a lot of them uh I think Chris already mentioned that but uh some of the stuff I wanted to add is more on like how I see like a lot more DS are being more strategic on like stuff that uh they're doing in terms of like uh they're not just like giving out funds just to uh build a bunch of random things like across but uh uh they're being more strategic in term of like aligning the goals and effort towards uh the same direction for example what's happening like last year uh like after April in optimism like during season 4 is that they introduced the concept of intent where uh pretty much uh they set
a goal that or like uh they wanted to pursue within those seasons and like all all the efforts or the uh grants program or or the the stakeholders are working towards that specific objectives so I think these are the things that are very uh a lot of mods are adopting this kind of approach the other example would be how safe da is also doing that they have this thing called the outcome based resource allocation initiatives pretty much uh how they distribute their funds it needs to be aligned with certain uh strategy that they set out uh throughout the seasons and each uh initiatives or like proposals that came in needs to
align to those uh strategies to be able to align everybody in the in the ecosystems towards the the same goals so so yeah I think that's uh it's where the trend is going right now for in the space within the past year okay so there I don't like to say about like you know the deoration being like last D to and this year d as a organizer side also so the last year it was like a very beginning year of Da in Japan so there everyone first time like touched real da contributors first time and talked with real da contributor first time and they start to educate like start to leun what's going on
what's happened in Dow space how can I contribute to the Dow so there maybe like a this year is like I I could see Rec many Rec contributors or all very unique approach is like one guy like who are are working in the staff in in the Vue right now so like he's working with like AB directory and ab da so like he's very good like proposer for ab da ecosystem as he have like a like a few team small team as well so he's very very young guy Japanese guy so like you know or if you don't have like any specific scale or that you don't if you you another a record or not a long
history of experience in the web 3 and crypto so maybe you can dive into the Dow space and start to catch up everything there you can follow every information if you try to access to like Dow document or like a community code as well their council code as well so there like a many document has already open so like you can access directly so there maybe people has finally know knew so what should we learn from like information from like how can I follow the like a recent situation of that so there the each of like attraction activities are really really happy to see from Japan ecosystem as well so recently like Japan has set like a new
regulation for da da it's called Dow LC in in Japan sorry so so there maybe da is a in Japan it's not only for Japan but like know the I think like the attendee for that is should contribute more and more for Di space directory to like because like we are we are super open guys so like if someone raise a hand how should I contribute to the Dow that we can educate everything so there maybe you know opportunity is like a yeah completely like open and like completely are like ready for your INF front of you yeah this is the things like I can share yeah I would I would
definitely add if you're try if you're thinking about getting involved in a dow a general theme I've seen in particular optimism but also arbitrum Dows is they just want more people to participate in general and they're trying to figure out how to best do that um and the buried entry is basically zero you can show up on the fors you can show up on the community calls you you know you raise your hand you ask a question you post a a response and it's I'm not going to say it's easy but with some sort of consistency you can build up a a bit of a reputation by just showing up by just having your voice heard by just you know adding some interesting ideas I'm sure you all have very interesting ideas if you follow any sort of proposal for more than just a few days you'll have some
sort of a take at the end of the day there's not that many people who are shaping the course of of these Dows and so that's a decentralization problem but it also presents an opportunity and um when at Event Horizon when we were pushing proposals through we initially want we're going to do it for free you know we had a suggestion we wanted to help out some of these Dows arbitrum uh gitcoin and we actually had the the delegates in the space say don't do that don't don't not ask for money the Dows are willing to pay people for for services in fact it's important for them to do so because if they constantly have people working for them for free it sort
of sends a message to every other builder in the space saying hey your labor is not valued here if you come and participate and build something for this Dow we will not pay you so the delegates in the space are pretty uh they're they're willing to actually pay people for whatever services or that they they want to provide and so that could be putting a proposal through that could be you know joining some committee that could be there's a million different things and in fact you can just make the job the job that you want and a dow doesn't exist yet you can make it so you can build a reputation low barrier to entry and if you're providing real service Dows will pay you so uh definitely would encourage anyone to uh just start participating thank you so much so a good comment I mean uh always discussing
about da we can hear that people saying that you know there is not enough interest to such areas Dow so the people are not joining because they don't understand or they don't know and the second problem always seems to be the government talken governance talken is not used to it purpose like it's only used for trading so there are few like open problems but you also mention something like inside in dep Community problems as well towards da so maybe today we can discuss your guys cases how you um create the Innovation and how you collaborate to make those problems solved so maybe my question is uh to you guys um you um in curial Labs uh you has been born from the investing Branch to my
knowledge how did it happen and right now you're also working with a big player such a save da how did that happen can you please share about your story yeah sure maybe let me take this back uh how we started off so uh C lab actually started off as a part of the uh SCB 10x Venture Builder team which uh pretty much is uh a company based in Southeast Asia where we try to you know build new Innovations startups and uh my team there uh physically we are more focused on like doing that research and then we stumble upon like what we were doing some of the delicate works you
know uh voting on proposals and also like uh you know uh trying to uh come up with some rationals we realized that it is a gap on like certain uh data governance data accessibility and that's we came up with like what we are doing right now you know building uh data uh dashboard and also like on the governance side of things so mostly like back then it's much more of like uh risk data you know the folks from uh gumet chaos lab they were providing those but not so much uh on like the governor's data and that's how we came to be and also uh like we uh came to you know uh we come up
with proposals and then uh push the the grants through we actually got like uh a great feedback from the committee we you know uh like get feed backs on like what they want and what they don't want and it's actually uh started from there and then uh specific for saile uh how we started off with them is that uh s SP 10x uh were uh uh one of their investors and they wanted to find someone to represent you know to delegate their voting of power for and uh it just happened that uh we team that already doing this so they were delegating their voice to us and then we started to participate in in say down uh and I think one of the key things that uh make
you know important in having successful uh uh working with like established payers like sea is that you need to actually uh put yourself in there actually participate in the governance to actually learn uh and and and Tackle like and find issues that the the current doubt she has right now uh for example uh when we were suating we had we found out the same problem uh on like uh data we couldn't find all the delegates who actually are uh already actively voting like there's a lot of delegates right but not all of them are actually voting and it's very hard for us to like to find all of them so we actually built like you know the
governance dashboard for them and and you know uh they they the community really like it and and and then you know they start paying us uh you know to to to to build this thing and then to maintain this thing for them so you mentioned uh that you guys monthly create reports with the data uh on train data you show it to the maybe Dow and they see that the voting poers has been reducted the last past week so they can do some campaign to support it for example but is there any potential to on beyond that like what kind of uh usage for that data can be considered in in a future I I think cash can can you repeat again the data that you use to create
those reports what kind of value can it bring to Dows and to Da members in like in Beyond in a longterm perspective maybe see like at the end of the day like all of these data itself when there's no one actually put it into context or like make sense of it it's just data you can really turn it into insights uh when we were doing reports for safe da uh uh it's actually an idea from the save team the the safe governance team where they came to us and hey uh uh we like this data but uh it's very hard to for everybody to make a sense of it and then uh and then we you know volunteer like hey uh why not
we you know put these datas into reports and update every months of like the trends of these Dynamic within the governance for example uh some of the use case would be you know we could see trends of like each month of how participation or like uh a distribution Waring P changes month by month you know to actually identify certain uh issues or potential issue that could happen in the near future uh for example uh right now there's an issue of like uh dropping of uh participation rate within safe da after they actually unlock their uh save tokens uh sa token is actually uh there uh for like some time but it was uh
locked it not it's not transferable they just recently trans uh make it transferable uh by the D vote and you know uh doing those time the participation skyrocketed but just it was peaked there and then it just downhill from there so uh you know we we could identify this Trends and you know come up with certain initiatives to actually uh solve this issues yeah thank you so much I think it's a great case you know to have it in consideration when you build your Dow goes to someone want that to participate thank you so much and my next question will be to Christian about basically Event Horizon when did you started first of all I think it's been about two years
now actually this month so yeah two years MH and to my knowledge you guys creating this like uh governance to earn or like voting to earn Innovative model can you describe it and what this solution brings to the industry yeah so like I like I said we're we're basically trying to get more people start voting and by by giving them an a non-monetary incentive so specifically if you vote through Event Horizon you can vote on arbitrum proposals Unis swap proposals compounds whatever and we basically give you a pretty large vote multiple on your voting power so it's large for retail voters so if you don't have a whole lot of money you can start voting with you know maybe 20,000 30,000 $40,000 worth of of Dow tokens and that's a little bit
more of an incentive to participate compared to maybe the $100 you have uh but it's not so much that it's you know you're basically a new delegate so it's a nice little sweet spot there um and the way we do it is we we go to the Dows you know gitcoin arbitrum Unis whatever whatever dow we're working with and we say hey we have voters who are voting for the sake of voting we're not paying them right there's no perverse incentives here what we're going to ask from you guys is you delegate from your treasury some amount of your token to the event Horizon community and then we give that voting power to retail and the way it works is through this model of what we call implicit delegation is we
have this piie so to speak of voting power and if one person shows up to vote Yes on a unisa proposal the whole block votes yes and so the relative to the cost of minting the voter pass it's a soulbound nft that lets you vote relative to that cost of mint you moved you know potentially millions of dollars with that but what that means is for the second person to come and vote they can cut that multiple in half but still get a pretty sizable uh voting Authority multiple by showing up at voting and then the third person goes in and cuts it and so the the vote multiple gets compressed the more people show up to vote but more people show up to vote and a few people show up to vote then the people who do care the few people who do
show up to vote they are rewarded with an even larger multiple so basically it's a win-win we turn the problem of low participation into a solution by getting a a larger multiple and but a lot of this really stems from the Dows delegating to us uh which is a difficult process basically trying to get Dows to act getting a proposal through a DA is quite a bit of work um but you know like I said the barri to entry is essentially zero it's just I would say the you have to turn into a bit of a lobbyist of sorts which is something I never thought that I would have to do um but I would really Rec recommend if you're trying to work with a
DA what you're doing now by showing up to these events is the best thing you can do so arbitrum for instance they a governance hackathon in Denver they had one in Brussels those are great shelling points for everyone in the space whether you're even in arbitrum directly or just a delegate broadly or even more generally you're just interested in participating in dials those are the spots where you're going to meet everyone and so that's where you can you know Network and meet people and you know picture ideas and and get feedback and iterate um so you know we're very decentralized industry in a lot of ways geographically especially so I would really take advantage of these inperson gatherings to really get your ideas out there meet people and connect with uh big stakeholders in the space I think it's a very fulfilled
explanation of the case of uh both Innovation and collaboration integrated in the business in the project and the team um thank you so much and another question is to you Dyson um you incubate projects and you host this you know very dedicated Dow conference so as a member of fracton venture what kind of project can you call Innovative what should it be or future in the space in the space before from maybe right now or in future yeah so actually like we have like a motivation to like know keep incubating more Innovative project in the space so there like I think like the Event
Horizon challenge very very interesting challenge so D can choose like Curr boting mechanism plus additional your boting mechanism as well and in the same time so it's really like just bit of tricky approach but like it's very great like a challenging approach it's it's not a soundbox but like a very kind of soundbox right so that that can take Rec testing like you know pdca cycle like in in your using your protocol to switching to how uh what type of result can we will see through this your or SBT border right so the the type of approach is very innov Innovative so there yeah
there as a Frum that we have a Rec a motivation to rec we like to incubate more Rec are like great like our protocol there are you know possibility Rec protocol earning protocols like protocol fee is always needed so there that is not rec that was will not to happen like with like tons of money so that should create a protocol first and the protocol are taking a fee and the fee will collect like as a d Treasury and like token border will choose like how we can uh spend this money uh like reinvestment again or like uh spend few things for educational stuff or
something spend money for public goods something so there yeah this is the things and one more things is that like I'm really interesting in like a PO market like a prediction Market so the maybe you can understand maybe you can misunderstand about like Po Market I guess so the prediction Market is not a bitting market so that you it's so the prediction Market means record you can check recer the how what is like a answer of society or like a society choose right now so there there there so many Rec in like a PO Market you can check so like who is Wing or next American like election like this so
there you can check the result but like you you do not to bet like is a result so the point is like a current like a Shar that 70% of people will supporting this person 30% people is supporting this person but like one month later the switching completely so there like a you know I think there I do like to see like a how we can or bring the type of like a prediction Market approach to Dow governance like a uh correcting one result answer approach so there maybe like a one proposal like a few team says like I'm completely say like oh it's good I've I I cannot like vote good so so I I think like thou should not do
that so but like other community people do did do not to understand like how many percentage of like Community thinking about like a recently so there like only the timing like after like shutting down to rec after finishing like snapshot Bing the open the result so we could see oh okay so like it was approved that it but like the more important things is that Rec if someone switching opinion from like a four to against against to four the what happens so why they understood the proposal so there we like to get like a more information about this point I think um
it's my personal opinion that I think like prediction Market will definitely fit to like you know uh tracking Rec community's op op opinion yeah if you guys have an answer or opinion you can jump in just quickly but we can go next yeah okay so we have just few minutes left and uh maybe we want to give some kind of advice to someone who wants to join it now from now or create a new one uh where how about you what you think is important for them to consider okay chrisan you can go first um yeah I would reiterate that there's a lot of work in Dows that needs to be done uh like I said PE we're people are
learning the lesson that they don't want to vote on every little decision ever they're making committees and and and oversight committees and whatnot um and if you just show up and participate and and build a reputation with yourself for having thoughtful feedback and commentary over over the span of a few weeks months you know you you can really build that reputation and leverage that into a position in in a dow and they will pay you and you will have real impact and the the the impact that you have by participating especially some of the larger Dows is pretty significant like these Dows have incredibly large treasuries that they're just sitting on right now and they're waiting to do something with um
but you can really etch out a little little part of the space for you if you just start showing and demonstrating hey I'm a thoughtful contributor in the space and and building up that reputation that way maybe just a few words from R yeah sure uh how do how do you start off right so uh I think it's just come down to showing up you know uh trying to learn and and be there to see what are the doubt lacking what are what are the problems they're trying to solve and I think the other thing would be like uh what is their whole mission of the Dow itself do you align yourself with what what they're trying to do and you know what are the skill sets you have that
could you know help these STS achieve those goals I think if you align with this it actually help you in terms of like you know uh uh having you know sense of completion you know you help something that you actually believe in as well uh for example uh how I start started off when I was trying to engage with uh optimism is you know they were trying to find public goods and you know they believe like he they want to fix this uh have this flly wheels of you know uh positive uh some having uh a uh uh five of like contributing you know on public goods and then those will uh uh create like uh impacts equal profit you know having create a lot of impacts will
generate you you know the ra will will uh pay uh ring RX value to you uh that's I find it really cool and I it resonates with me and and that's how you know I start contributing and you know it just it's just uh start off from there and I I I think it's uh What uh a lot of people could also uh do West B if you have yeah um my message is very simple like a please contribute to Da yeah let's yeah you can you can enter you can dive in yeah please contribute to Dao and you also mentioned that Dao can even be that point of interance for nonb Builders and even no Deep Web three
but maybe web two people that's what I bring with myself out of this discussion but we also had a lot of several different sites you guys can find our panelists in the lobby today tomorrow please uh bomb them with the questions because they probably have a lot because the solutions are really interesting I wish you the best of luck I mean with what you build to have it in best quality quality thank you so much for today's time yeah thank you thank you so much so much thank you for the great talk once again for the speakers thank you thank you
