Preston Van Loon
Preston Van Loon is an Ethereum core developer best known as a cofounder of Prysmatic Labs, the team behind Prysm, the most widely used Ethereum consensus client, which played a central role in delivering the Merge. In October 2022 Prysmatic Labs was acquired by Offchain Labs, the developer of Arbitrum, where he has continued working on Ethereum's core protocol, including the Fusaka upgrade. He is also a named plaintiff in Van Loon v. Department of the Treasury, the Coinbase-backed lawsuit challenging OFAC's sanctions on Tornado Cash, which produced a landmark Fifth Circuit ruling in 2024 that immutable smart contracts cannot be sanctioned as property.
