Karl Floersch
Karl Floersch is the co-founder of Optimism and CEO of OP Labs, the company building the OP Stack that powers Optimism's layer 2 and a family of chains including Coinbase's Base. He began in the Ethereum world as a blockchain engineer at ConsenSys and then as a researcher at the Ethereum Foundation, where he worked on consensus and scaling. In 2019 he helped start Plasma Group, a nonprofit research effort pushing early layer 2 technology, which spun out and became Optimism. He is also closely associated with retroactive public goods funding, an idea he championed with Vitalik Buterin that became a core part of Optimism's governance design.
