Jens Groth
Jens Groth is a cryptographer whose work fundamentally shaped zero-knowledge proofs: his 2016 paper "On the Size of Pairing-Based Non-interactive Arguments" introduced the succinct proof system known as Groth16, which is used in protocols including Zcash and Tornado Cash. He was Professor of Cryptology at University College London for nearly a decade, then served as Director of Research at DFINITY, and has been Chief Scientist at Nexus since December 2023, where he works on verifiable computation and zkVM design. His contributions have been recognized with two IACR Test-of-Time Awards, in 2021 and 2023, and he remains an honorary professor at UCL.
