Eric Alston
Eric Alston is a scholar in residence in the finance division at CU Boulder's Leeds School of Business and an incoming assistant professor of law at the University of Wyoming. His research applies law and economics and institutional and organizational analysis to digital governance, focusing on how cryptocurrency and blockchain networks handle rule-making, and he also consults directly with crypto networks and DAOs on governance design as a fellow of the Decentralization Research Center. He has published on blockchain governance and law in outlets including the Case Western Reserve Journal of Law, Technology and Internet and the Notre Dame Journal on Emerging Technologies, and co-edited a 2024 special issue on blockchains and public administration. His ETHBoulder 2026 talk, on why governments undersupply privacy, applies that same institutional lens to the archive's coverage of private transactions and regional tax regimes.
