Benedikt Bünz
Benedikt Bünz is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at NYU Courant and the co-founder and chief scientist of Espresso Systems, the team behind the Espresso shared sequencing network. He is best known as the inventor of Bulletproofs, the zero-knowledge proof system that secures confidential transactions on Monero and other chains, and as a co-inventor of Verifiable Delay Functions, a building block of Ethereum's consensus design and systems like Chia and Filecoin. His research also includes the HyperPlonk and ProtoStar proof systems and Zether, an early design for private payments on account-based chains. He completed his PhD at Stanford under Dan Boneh, and his work sits at the rare intersection of deep cryptographic theory and protocols that ship to production.
